This 16-Year-Old Chef Is Running His Own Restaurant

0
0
At 16, we were just trying to get through high school and pass our drivers' tests. Flynn McGarry, on the other hand, runs the show and cooks up a storm three nights a week at his own restaurant.

The professional chef recently opened up a pop-up supper club called Eureka in New York City's West Village, according to Teen Vogue, and he's serving up grub that foodies crave like foie gras and brussel sprouts (yes, we're totally swooning over all of this).

"I'm really excited that so many people can now get the opportunity to try my food," he told the mag. "The most exciting part has and always will be when guests come and eat and absolutely love their experience. It makes all of the hard work worth it."

When guests arrive at his restaurant, they begin their meals with a "ritz cracker sandwich" of sorts, made with foie gras, peanuts and sour cherry. Then, the feast begins. "I just put a dish on that is Brussel sprouts grilled and glazed in aged beef fat, fish sauce, and lime," he told the mag about one of the dishes they prepared. "They're served on the stalk so it looks really cool."
Flynn started cooking at 10 for his mom's friends, and studied Tomas Keller's The French Laundry Cookbook at 11 to help refine his skills. After gaining some recognition, he opened up Eureka in Creative Edge Studio, which doubles as a high-end catering company. Flynn said he has no other cooks working for him, so he does all the work himself.

He preps and shops for ingredients Wednesday and Thursday, and even does all of the paperwork for the week on Mondays. Although Flynn said, "there's not much sleep involved," he's still loving every bit of it, especially because of the feedback he's been getting from diners.

"People have been complimenting the food a lot, and my favorite is when people come with low expectations and leave impressed," he said. And he also has a message for other aspiring young chefs. "You may fail," he said, "but it's all part of it. You'll be overly scrutinized solely because of your age," he said." But, still go for it! Look at everything Flynn has accomplished by simply following his passion. Total inspiration.

Katy Perry Pops as Animated, Green-Haired Mobile App Star

US singer Katy Perry laughs during an onKatycats, rejoice! We're one step closer to the release of Katy Perry's video game app.

On Wednesday, Katy teased the app on Instagram with an extremely colorful photo that's basically the animated version of one of her bright, energetic stage performances. Seriously guys, there's a LOT going on in this pic, but exuberant chaos is sort of her specialty, no?

"Introducing the cartoon version of me in my new game #KatyPerryPop!" she wrote. "We've been working on this game for over a year now. I've created the most fun, colorful world that helps guide your musical dreams. App coming soon!"

Katy Perry Pop is set for release later this year and will be available for both Apple and Android devices. Hopefully, the Glu Mobile game offers a ton of pop star-themed fun because it's up against some pretty stiff celebrity competition. With Kim Kardashian's app still receiving major play (just ask little North West about that), and both Britney Spears and Nicki Minaj working on mobile game apps of their own, we're going to need Katy to bring it.

We'd be down for a game that challenges us to pen revenge songs about pop star rivals, deal with unexpected wig catastrophes or work Left Shark into a last-minute routine, or play a "Truth or Dare" version of "I Kissed a Girl."

You're welcome in advance for those amazing ideas, Katy. And before you ask us, social media shoutouts or a mention in a song are both perfectly acceptable forms of payment.

Why Drinking Black Coffee Might Mean You're Totally Cray

High angle view of coffees in cupsHere's a major reason to reassess your coffee-drinking habit. According to The Huffington Post, a recent study published in the journal Appetite claims that people who drink black coffee have an awful lot in common with psychopaths. Hmm...so does this explain the totally cray behavior that tends to take place when someone doesn't get their morning cup of joe?

Well, not exactly. Researchers at the University of Innsbruck of Austria found that from the 1,000 people who took part in the study, those who had a preference for the bitter black brew and foods with similar acrid tastes achieved noticeably higher scores on a questionnaire that identifies Machiavellianism. In layman's terms, it refers to an individual whose personality is about as dark as their black coffee preference, and is more likely to be accompanied by a healthy dose of psychopathic, narcissistic and sadistic tendencies.

Sheesh, and we thought folks who preferred to skip the cream and sugar just had some majorly tough taste buds. As it turns out, it's a little more serious (and scary!) than a taste preference. As HuffPo states, taste preferences don't always remain the same, so we'll hold off on side-eyeing anyone who downs a cup of black in our presence - for now.

Dennis Hof Explains the "Go to Hell" Comment He Made to Kardashian Publicist

Dennis Hof is the owner of the Love Ranch in Nevada, where Lamar Odom was found unconscious on Tuesday afternoon. Since the news broke, Dennis has been doing multiple media interviews recounting what happened in the days and hours leading up to the discovery and discussing the condition Lamar was in when he was found by two of the girls.

According to Dennis, Khloe Kardashian's publicist has asked him to stop doing media interviews and to instead let Khloe speak on the situation. A request, which he says really angered him.

Dennis tells NBC News that he was expecting a call from Khloe inquiring about some details following the incident, but instead he got a call from a publicist asking if he was doing any media. He said that he had and the publicist said to just send them the info and that Khloe would take over from there. "It pissed me off," he recalls. "People like the Kardashians, that's what they want is media ... I'm shocked at how dumb America is to follow these people."
Celebrity Sightings In New York City - March 23, 2015
And as for the publicist's request? "I said, 'Excuse me, this is my place of business, and I know what happened, and Khloe Kardashian is not going to speak for me. And would you do me a favor? Tell Khloe Kardashian to go to hell,'" he recalls.

A rep for Khloe released a statement confirming that they did reach out to Dennis, asking him to respect Lamar and Khloe's privacy. "We reached out to Dennis yesterday politely asking him to respect Lamar's (and Khloe's) privacy during this difficult time and refrain from talking to the press," the statement, obtained by Us Weekly, reads. "This is a very painful situation, as I know you are aware, and the idea that anyone would use it to seek publicity is really sad."

As of Friday morning, Lamar remained in a coma in a Nevada hospital.

Lamar Odom Opens His Eyes, Speaks to Khloe Kardashian

Lamar Odom may have just taken a huge step on the road to recovery.

On Friday morning, it was reported that Lamar's heart was responding, which was a very positive development, but shortly after that, there was even bigger, BETTER news. E! News is exclusively reporting that Lamar opened his eyes, saw Khloe Kardashian (who has remained at his bedside since Tuesday night), said "hey, baby" and then gave her a thumbs up before going back to sleep.

This is a huge development for the former NBA star who has been in a coma since Tuesday evening. He has also reportedly had his breathing tube removed, which is another encouraging step in the right direction.

A spokesperson for Lamar's aunt told Entertainment Tonight that the 35-year-old said "good morning" and gave a thumbs up when the doctor came in and asked him how he was doing this morning. There were also reports that Lamar communicated that he wanted to see his children when he was asked, but it was not revealed whether he communicated verbally or using body language in that particular instance.

Adam Levine Finally Meets Little Girl Who Cried Over His Marriage

Little Mila finally met her biggest crush.

After a video went viral showing the 3-year-old sobbing when her mom told her Adam Levine had gotten married, the tyke was invited to the Ellen DeGeneres show to talk about it...and the host had a huge surprise waiting for her.

Adam walked out with a pink rose in his hand for her, picked her up and gave her a huge hug. But, instead of jumping for joy or blushing, Mila had a serious shy attack, clung to her mom and tried not to look at him.

Still, the Maroon 5 frontman and Ellen DeGeneres continued the convo as they all sat down, with Adam dishing on the moment he saw Mila's video for the first time. "It was kind of heartbreaking," Adam said with a smile. "But, it was so unbelievably cute and every single person that I know, in my entire life, sent it to me. The first two people were my wife - sorry, earmuffs!- and then my mother."

As Adam noticed Mila was still not looking at him as he told the story, he said, "she's clearly transfixed" and smiled at her. But, still, no response. In her defense though, can you imagine meeting your biggest crush on live T.V. and not getting a heads up first? Seriously overwhelming.

We imagine her mom carried her out of the studio just like that.

Harry Styles Dishes on What One Direction's 'Perfect' Is About

0

one direction perfect lyrics harry styles louis tomlinsonWhile we're all speculating who One Direction's new song "Perfect" is about (*cough* Taylor Swift), let's hear from the guys directly for their take on the lyrics.

Louis Tomlinson previously gave a little scoop on what "Perfect" is about, but now both Louis and Harry Styles, who co-wrote the song, weigh in with their thoughts.

In a new interview with Smallzy's Surgery show on Nova 96.9FM radio, Harry confirmed that it's "for sure a love song," adding, "but it's quite a spontaneous love song."

Louis explained, "You always write about your own experiences and that's where the inspiration comes from, no matter how loose that might be."

Then Harry launched into the most confusing answer of all time, explaining, "It doesn't always have to be an exact story, but I don't think you necessarily change the story." He also pointed to all the rumors, saying, "People take songs and three different people can think that it means three completely different things, so to be honest it translates to whoever just based on...what they take from it.

Harry further explained, "It's not one about thinking through too much, being like, 'Hey, I want to be with you for the rest of my life.' It's like well, you know, 'This could be fun.'"

Don't you dare think for a minute he's going to own up to it being about an ex-girlfriend, but that does sound a little like what he and Tay had going on.

We know, we know...but there are so many lyrical clues that it's Taylor-related, it's unbelievable.
C'mon, references to "midnight" drives and that line: "If you're looking for someone to write your break up songs about/ Baby I'm perfect" kind of scream shade, right?

Fans have also noticed how much "Perfect" sounds like Taylor's "Style," with someone even making this mashup. Oh yeah, there's no denying this Haylor related.

What Selena Gomez Thinks About Those Cara Delevingne Dating Rumors

Cara Delevingne Selena Gomez Taylor SwiftRemember how Selena Gomez and Cara Delevingne took on the French Riviera together in 2014? The girls are obviously just gal pals, but that didn't stop people from having romance speculations.

In a recent interview with Pride Course, Selena opened up about that Cara-hookup-talk and she's actually really amused by them.

"Honestly, I loved it," she said. "I didn't mind it, especially because they weren't talking about other people in my life for once, which was wonderful."

While she was on the subject, Selena talked up Cara, a fellow member of Taylor Swift's kick ass girl squad.

"Honestly, though, she's incredible and very open and she just makes me open," Sel said of the model turned actress. "She's so fun and she's just extremely adventurous, and sometimes I just want that in my life, so I didn't mind it. I loved it."

The "Good for You" singer, who has been linked to some of Hollywood's most popular guys over the years including Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas and Taylor Lautner, also opened up about questioning her sexuality.

"Oh, I think everybody does, no matter who they are," she explained. "I do, yeah, of course. Absolutely. I think it's healthy to gain a perspective on who you are deep down, question yourself and challenge yourself; it's important to do that."

She's cool with her sex-talk thanks to the way she was raised. "You have to understand: my mother is absolutely fantastic and she worked at a modeling agency when I was a very young girl, so every Sunday I would have brunch with her and all of her gays, and I just remember a lot of mimosas," she told the publication.

"It was the best. So, I've been around it my whole life and, you know, I love it. I have to tell you: on my 16th birthday, my mom had a bunch of drag queens come out and they sang 'Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)' and it was sooo funny."

Beyonce Covers Beat Magazine and Gets the Beyhive Buzzing

So when's the last time we saw Beyonce slaying the cover of a magazine? With Queen Bey, it feels like that's pretty much a bi-weekly occurrence but her latest cover for Beat Magazine's Oct. 21 issue clearly ups the ante on the levels of slayage.

On Thursday, the "Drunk in Love" singer uploaded a shot of the patriotic portrait to Instagram and the only negative thing we have to say is that it reminds us of the 4th of July, which makes us miss the summer even more.

"I sneezed on the BEAT and the BEAT got sicker😊," Bey cleverly captioned the photo.
Ha, we see what you did there, Bey. And we're not mad at all.

Lately, Bey's received some flack from the media for having gone more than a year without doing interviews, but we suppose that's just a fringe benefit of being a world-renowned diva. Odds are that Bey's on to the buzz about her decision to remain mum in the press. If so, maybe these flawless covers she keeps blessing us with are her attempts at tiding us over until she decides to formally address the masses.

Getting back to this glorious photo, some of Bey's Instagram followers noted the slight curve of her belly, which has us wondering if those stripes are covering up a baby bump. Hmm...we think that speculation is best left for the BeyHive.

What Is 'Extreme Phone Pinching' and Why Are People Doing It?

0

Young woman accessing city with smartphoneIf you've ever dropped your phone, you know it can be a fairly traumatizing experience. If you happen to get extremely lucky, it might survive the fall with just a few scratches. If you're one of the unlucky ones, you find yourself rocking the cracked phone screen, which as a result of the unfortunate phone-dropping epidemic, has basically become a new 'trend.'

Now, let's take it to the next level: The falls your phone absolutely, positively would NOT survive. Falling into a body of water, for example. Or being dropped off of a cliff, or from a hot air balloon. The kind of tragedies that would make you WISH for just a cracked screen.

Those are the scenarios people are testing fate with, as part of the new #ExtremePhonePinching social media trend. Basically, you pinch your phone in between your index finger and thumb and you dangle it above something that would absolutely destroy it if you lost your grip. Then, you have someone take a picture of you doing that and hopefully you still have a phone left when you go to share it on social media.

100 Years of Halloween Costumes: Old School Creepy to Pop Culture Faves

Looking for some Halloween costume inspo? Check out this clever look at 100 years of costumes in three minutes, from your early 1900s looks (kooky right?) through to the one of the most iconic pop culture images of 2015.

Mode gives a little walk through Halloween costume history and it's pretty eye opening to see how the styles have evolved over the years. We think the paper mache masks from back in the day are especially creepy, the 40s devil and cowgirl of the 50s are adorbs...and Raggedy Ann of the 70s is someplace in between.

In the 80s, the side ponytail complemented a toga, the 90s era's music video bee got her buzz on, and the 2000s brought everyone's favorite super sexy schoolgirl - Britney, b**ch.

And in 2015? That would be Kim Kardashian with a champagne glass balanced on her bum, duh.

Chris Brown Cradles Adorable Daughter Royalty on New Album Cover

This could be the cutest album cover we've ever seen.

Chris Brown made fans melt Friday when he posted the first photo of his upcoming album cover, which he named after his daughter Royalty. On the black-and-white snap, the singer stands shirtless, covered in tattoos and cradling his adorable baby girl, who is sleeping with her palm on his chest. We seriously can't take all the cuteness here.

A photo posted by @chrisbrownofficial on

The cover art is just the latest photo Chris has shared of his precious 17-month-old. Last week, he posted a few photos of himself and Royalty hanging out at a park with a giraffe (who stuck out his tongue for the camera) and relaxing in a tree.

And earlier this week, he posted a photo of the results of himself trying to style her hair. "Time for school. (Trying to learn how to do her hair)," he captioned the photo, adding several crying laughing emoticons. Although her hair was kinda all over the place, it still looked cute and Chris managed to pull it up into a high bun before the day was done.

A photo posted by @chrisbrownofficial on

Royalty's cute pics aside, Chris first announced in June that he planned to release a new album, telling Billboard that it would hit stores this fall. The album marks his seventh studio effort and reportedly will be released Nov. 25.

Considering Thanksgiving is the day after that, it's safe to say he's giving his fans a lot to be thankful for.

Zac Posen x Mac Is the Old Hollywood Beauty Line of our Dreams

MAC Cosmetics Collaborates With Zac PosenZac Posen is no stranger to the old Hollywood aesthetic. Known for his red-carpet ready, glamorous ball gowns, Zac is now channeling all that the allure of bygone days into a new makeup line with MAC. We're waiting on the edge of seats, completely ready to channel our inner Marilyn Monroe.

According to Allure, this is MAC's biggest collaboration with a designer to date and Zac's first venture into the beauty world. But Zac is no stranger to the MAC brand; in 2001, the designer worked with the beauty world favorite for his first collection in 2001. Because beauty was so integral to his looks and the fashion world as a whole, Zac said it was only a matter of time before he dipped his toe into the makeup pool.
"I have always wanted to create a makeup line to complement my designs and my brand, and it was only natural to work with MAC to create my first-ever signature collection," he said. He added that he has learned a lot from MAC since starting his career 15 years ago and knows they will perfectly complement his pieces when they hit the runway.

As for what the line will feature, Zac said, "I wanted to keep it luxurious, a little mysterious and clean with a large dose of star wattage."
Star wattage, indeed. When the line premieres in February 2016, expect all the essentials to a classic makeup routine. Naturally, that would include eyeliner that creates the perfect cat-eye, dark jewel-toned shadow, bright blush to accentuate cheekbones and brushes soft to the touch. Zac's favorite? A deep red lipstick, of course.

"It's the perfect encapsulation of both of our worlds, with something sophisticated and sexy for every woman out there," he said.

Well Zac, we're already on line outside of MAC, waiting.

Stella McCartney Is Suing Steve Madden for Ripping Off her Signature Bag

0
0
Stella McCartney falabella bagIn the fashion industry, being both original and up-to-date on trends is essential. But sometimes, it's not so easy to be unique, and products that feed too much into a trend could be labeled knock-offs. Take the recent case between Stella McCartney and Steve Madden: Her most popular Falabella bag, which garnered her the attention of celebrities like Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron and Jennifer Lopez suddenly seemed to be gracing the shelves of Steve Madden's stores for one-tenth the price. But Stella didn't take this imitation as a sense of flattery; instead, she slapped Steve Madden with a lawsuit.

When looking at Stella's Falabella bag, and comparing it to Steve Madden's Btotally bag, it's not difficult to see the similarities. Both totes feature chain trim with a chain handle and faux-leather material in similar patterns. The only difference seems to be that Steve's is a little less structured than Stella's.
According to the lawsuit, Stella is charging Steve with "trade dress infringement, unfair competition, deceptive trade practices, and design patent infringement," but by far, the worst of all is, "marketing and sale of a knock-off."

Ouch.

The lawsuit also says that Steve took the idea long after Stella's bag became popular, and that the knock-off was "a poorly made copy." Shots fired, Stella.
But probably one of Steve's biggest fashion faux pas is selling Stella's original design for significantly less. Most of her bags run between $815 for a micro size, to over $2,000 for the large fringed design; you can get Steve's for only $108.

And this isn't the first time Steve has been hit with a lawsuit for marketing someone else's design. E! Online says that Steve Madden was also sued by Balenciaga last year for creating and selling a knock-off of their iconic motorcycle bag.

Do you think Steve ripped off Stella's bag, or are the designs totally different? Sound off in the comments below!

Wait, What?! Lindsay Lohan Wants to Be President in 2020

Chovgan Twilight PoloThe 2020 presidential run just got way more interesting.

If Kanye West thought he'd be a shoo-in for prez, then he may want to rework his campaign strategy because Lindsay Lohan also her sights set on occupying the Oval Office in the next five years.

On Friday, LiLo Instagrammed a photo of herself at the 2012 White House Correspondent's Dinner and announced her bid for the presidency (sort of).

"In #2020 I may run for president. Through ups and downs #YESWECAN lets do this @kanyewest 🇺🇸#truespirits thank your for inspiring us to be better people @barackobama #kanyewest2020 #lindsaylohanat35 #lindsaylohan2020 with #34yearsofEXPERIENCE 🙏#unitingWORLDnations @aliforneycenter @savethesociety @unicef," she captioned the photo.
She also shared a throwback snap of herself with Yeezy from 2011, announcing the first item on her would-be presidential agenda while also proving that she's not into mudslinging.

So, we're no political pundits, but LiLo should probably start by coming up with an original slogan. Also, not promoting your opponent is kind of how this whole presidential race thing works.

Now that we've gotten that out of the way, here's another suggestion that would definitely boost Lindsay's chances at running our country (and it might put us in line to become her official advisor) - make Mean Girls Day a national holiday and for crying out loud, please make fetch happen. (We've waited far too long).

With those promises, Lindsay should have no problem collecting all the votes she needs.

#GirlBoss: Teen Becomes the World's Youngest Psychologist

Imagine spilling all your #grownupproblems to a teenager. If your mind is suddenly bombarded with images of loud sighs and extended eye rolls then you probably haven't heard of this 13-year-old #girlboss from Mexico, Dafne Almazán, who also happens to be the youngest licensed psychologist in the world.

When it comes to expertise on the human mind and behavior, how much knowledge could she have amassed after spending only a little over a decade on Earth? Well, seeing as how Dafne is a literal genius, her extraordinary capacity for learning goes well beyond our middle school struggles with basic algebra and grammar.

After graduating from Mexico's Monterrey Institute of Technology (ITESM), the teen told Univision that her brother, who is also gifted, experienced bullying in school, which ultimately inspired her to study psychology. She's hoping that her expertise will allow her to spark a better understanding of gifted children throughout her country.

"I know it's hard to reach and guide all gifted children in Mexico, but I'm optimistic that we'll eventually be able to do so," Daphne told the Global Post. "I always wanted to go to college, and I managed to achieve it too."

But Daphne isn't quite ready to welcome patients to her couch for counsel. She's too busy enjoying her time in the spotlight (like a normal teen) while preparing to pursue a Master's in education (hey - she's still a genius on a #BuiltByGirls mission).

"I'm happy with the attention," she said. "This way I can show everyone that it's worth it doing your best. And I can do something about the prejudice that gifted children spend their time locked up in a library. We don't have to give up our youth just because we're gifted, you know."

Spoken like a true boss, Daphne!

Is Lady Gaga Pregnant? Her 'American Horror Story: Hotel' Character May Be!

0

los angeles feb 22 lady...If you're watching American Horror Story this season, you know that some seriously cray stuff is going down. We may have expected to see lots of blood, guts and gore on this season of the anthology series, but one thing we definitely did not expect to see on American Horror Story: Hotel is Lady Gaga's character The Countess going maternal. Now, new set photos show our girl Gaga with a pregnancy belly - and it's sparking lots of fan theories.

"Motherly" isn't exactly how I would describe Gaga's character. The Countess is a ruthless vampire (sans fangs) who kidnaps innocent hotel visitors in order to drink their blood and stay youthful. How the heck does a baby fit in to all of this? The photos below might shed a clue: Celebrity Sightings In Los Angeles - October 14, 2015It appears that Gaga is wearing '30s style clothing over that pregnancy belly, which seems to suggest that this attire will be worn for a flashback sequence. We learned in Wednesday's episode that The Countess was born in 1904, and stopped aging once she was infected with the vampire virus. If The Countess stopped aging around 30, that could mean that she was pregnant before she was turned into a vampire.Celebrity Sightings In Los Angeles - October 14, 2015So who could The Countess' baby daddy be? If this is from a '30s flashback, then signs point to one person: Mr. March, the creator of the creepy Hotel Cortez. We know that Evan Peters' character was one hell of an evil dude, and that he had a wife who may have turned him in to inherit his riches. Could the Countess have been his equally as sinister wife, and the mother of his child?

Anything is possible on American Horror Story, but only time will tell just how this pregnancy pic comes into play.

Advice for Going After Your Dream Career From a Verified #BossLady

IVY New York Innovator Dinner Presented by Cadillac and IVYWhen it comes to #CareerGoals, Alexandra Wilkis Wilson has them pretty much covered.

Alexandra knows a thing or two about launching bad*** companies. She co-founded legendary flash-sale e-commerce site Gilt before she branched off to take on the role of CEO at GLAMSQUAD, a mobile app available in some U.S. cities that allows you to order in-home hair and makeup services with a few taps on your phone. Alexandra also works closely with other startups as an advisor, mentor and angel investor, including Birchbox, Rent the Runway and Carbon 38.

Last week, Alexandra hosted a fireside chat as part of Techweek New York 2015. In honor of the occasion, we were lucky enough to chat with her about following your dreams and how girls can transform the tech industry.
CAMBIO: What passion fueled you to create GLAMSQUAD?
ALEXANDRA WILKIS WILSON: In early 2014, I reconnected with two of GLAMSQUAD's co-founders and former college classmates, Jason Perri and David Goldweitz, at a Harvard undergrad tech event. We started talking and they told me that they had just launched a mobile beauty services app called GLAMSQUAD. It was a lightbulb moment because we're living in a mobile world and at the time, you could get everything - food, clothes, car services, etc. - delivered to your door...except beauty services. I became obsessed with this innovative concept and immediately began using GLAMSQUAD as a client and also became an advisor to the company. I began to have so many ideas for GLAMSQUAD and truly fell in love with the business. I knew that GLAMSQUAD had the potential to change women's lives by making the process of getting ready a whole lot easier. We have modernized the process of delivering high-quality, professional and affordable beauty services including hair, makeup and nails services to the comfort of your home, office, hotel, or wherever is most convenient for you.

What does #BUILTBYGIRLS mean to you?
#BUILTBYGIRLS is meaningful to me because it exemplifies strength, power and potential. There are so many exceptional female leaders in the world and by putting them on display, #BUILTBYGIRLS shows young girls through real examples that they can be and do anything. #BUILTBYGIRLS is the present and the future; it emphasizes that women will continue to be pioneers in the business world and the glass ceiling could ultimately become shattered for the young women of today.

What are a few of your fave #BUILTBYGIRLS tech/entrepreneurial projects?
I love and use so many, it is hard to pick only a few. I have to say that I will always be partial to Gilt as a co-founder, but I recognize that I am incredibly biased! I'm also a huge fan of Rent the Runway, Birchbox, Zady, Learnvest, Paperless Post and Carbon 38 because each one is groundbreaking in its own right.

Why is tech an industry that girls should pursue?
Having more women in the tech industry would result in fresh and unique ideas that could lead to the creation of new products and offerings that benefit a wider audience. I think it is important for new generations to have powerful female role models for inspiration. The more women we see in strong leadership roles, the more it will leave a positive and lasting impression on generations to come and show young girls through real examples that they can truly be anything when they grow up.

What advice would you give a college-age girl to become a leader in tech?
The best advice I can give is to take every opportunity you can to learn and grow. There is no such thing as failure because you absorb knowledge from every obstacle and fork-in-the-road moment. As the saying goes, life is a journey and not a destination. I believe the same can be said for your career, so take advantage of all opportunities. Figure out what you are good at, what you are passionate about, and build your network.

7 Amy Schumer Truth Bombs Because She's Always Real AF

The 74th Annual Peabody Awards Ceremony - ArrivalsAmy Schumer is funny AF, uber talented, besties with Jennifer Lawrence and an overall #bosschick who's taken Hollywood by storm, but her unapologetic candor is what makes the 34-year-old one of the most admirable celebs.

The Trainwreck star recently admitted to dealing with body image issues throughout her entire life. "It's been a struggle for me my whole life, especially just being in the entertainment industry, standing on a stage in front of people," Amy told Today's Maria Shriver. "I can't perform my best or be confident if I'm not sure, if I'm pulling at something. Sometimes I would just want to throw in the towel and say, 'I'm not going to do stand-up tonight.'"

Sigh. We totally feel her on those struggles, and her unabashed, tell-it-like-it-is attitude is what bumps the temps up a notch on the Why We Love Amy-o-meter. Instead of faking it for the less than forgiving glare of the Hollywood spotlight, Amy's always dropping some major need-to-know truth bombs.

Here are seven more moments when Amy kept it real AF (and we loved her for it!):

1. When she shouted out her makeup artist onstage at the Emmys:
Instead of pretending she woke up like this, Amy had a real girl moment when she credited her makeup artist for helping create her fab Emmys look.

2. When she schooled guys on the ins and outs of what it's like to have a vag:

"It's work having a vagina. Guys don't think that its work but it is," Amy said. "You think it shows up like that to the event? It doesn't. Every night it's like getting it ready for its first Quinceanera, believe me."

3. On why she fell in front of Kimye on the red carpet:
US - TIME 100 GALA
"I usually disassociate, which is only available to you if you had a poor childhood, so I disassociate but what I attribute that moment to was seeing these people who are media moguls in their prime, in their moment, and wanting to do something to remind everyone that we're all human and that no one is more special than anyone else," Amy said.

4. When she called out the stigmas that women face:

"I think it has something to do with the general aggression toward women, and it being pounded into people's heads that it's just not possible for women to be funny," Amy said in a 2013 interview with Salon. "Even though we're living in the times we're living in, there is still stigma with women in general. People want women to be in a certain place. And not everyone's comfortable with a woman speaking openly and honestly. When I read Gloria Steinem quotes, I just think that we aren't that far along, or much further along than when she was."

5. When she talked self-love:

"No, I'm not going to apologize for who I am, and I'm going to actually love the skin that I'm in," the comedian said. "I'm not gonna be striving for some other version of myself."

6. When she basically delivered a huge "Eff you" to the haters:
Amy's Gloria Awards and Gala speech should be memorized by every man, woman and child. "I will speak and share and f**k and love and I will never apologize to the frightened millions who resent that they never had it in them to do it," she told the audience. "I stand here and I am amazing, for you. Not because of you. I am not who I sleep with. I am not my weight. I am not my mother. I am myself. And I am all of you, and I thank you."

7. When she had no probz admitting that she's a total man-magnet:

While accepting Glamour's Trailblazer Award, Amy famously said, "I'm probably, like, a 160 pounds right now, and I can catch a d**k whenever I want."

Yes, Amy. Continue to speak the truth, even if you make us blush a little (or a lot) in the process.
