3 Ways Stars Are Scaring the Crap Out of Themselves Before Halloween

Don't you just love Halloween season? It's a time to stock up on all things pumpkin, sip PSLs, pick out costumes that will knock everyone dead and of course, really scare yourself at the creepy haunted houses and attractions set up around your city.

A ton of celebs in Los Angeles have been getting into the spirit of Halloween at some of the scariest places in town, with stars like Adrienne Bailon, Ashley Greene, Ashley Benson and more getting their spook on in La La Land and beyond.

Take a peek at 3 ways stars are scaring the crap out of themselves before Halloween hits!

Los Angeles Haunted Hayride: Aside from the several attractions set up at the (already scary at night by itself) Griffith Park in Los Angeles, like the Boogey-Man's House of Shadows, the Haunted Hayride is the main attraction at his Halloween staple. During the VIP Black Carpet opening night earlier this month, celebs like Adrienne, Peyton List and Frankie Grande took a spin on the Hayride, where all sorts of ghouls pop out from the darkness and make hay riders scream during the 30-minute ride.
Knott's Scary Farm Black CarpetKnott's Scary Farm: Celebrities flock here to take a walk through mazes, thrill rides and scare zones, including the CarnEVIL freak show, Pinocchio Unstrung maze and Supreme Scream ride. Among many other things, there's also a knightly Elvira's Asylum show where guests are treated to comedy, music and dance. Basically, Knott's has it all, from the super scary to attractions you can go to when you need to calm down a bit. Rita Ora and Vanessa Hudgens (we need her 'I'm just here for the boos shirt) were just two of the stars on hand for opening night.

Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Nights: Celebs like Twilight alum Ashley Greene and Disney star Olivia Holt have headed to this famed Halloween hot spot for some serious scares. There are six mazes here, including the Walking Dead, The Purge and Insidious mazes (which you might imagine are beyond terrifying), and the Terrifying Tram, where guests hop on a tram and head out into the streets during The Purge night. And lest we not forget the Scare Zones, where in the Exterminator Zone, for example, mutated half man/half pests, chase you.

Anyone else really creeped out yet?

Are You 'Camouflaging' Without Even Realizing It?

CamouflageWhen you hear the term camouflage, what does it make you think? We're not talking about rocking camo-colored boots or doing actual military drills, though this could be just as dangerous as the latter. Camouflaging means trying so hard to blend in with a certain group, like the popular crowd for example (hello, Mean Girls), that you lose your authentic voice.

Have you ever said something (or even more commonly, not said what you were really thinking) just to come off as cool or likable? Tween girls are particularly susceptible, but it can happen to otherwise smart and confident teens and adults as well. (In fact, Jennifer Lawrence just wrote about the cray feedback she received when she finally started using her voice at work, and she already has a slew of blockbuster performances under her belt.) The really scary part? It can take years to get your true voice back!
Wouldn't it be better not to lose it in the first place? Tia Girl Club certainly thinks so. Through their "Today I Am" campaign they are teaching girls how to use words to strengthen their voices, value themselves, envision success and pursue their dreams. (How #BUILTBYGIRLS is that?) Check out their Instagram, below:
But that's not all. They've also got a slamming kickstarter campaign to raise money to create the new Tia Treasure Box, a monthly major dose of of inspiration for members that includes a charm, a trading card, a letter from a Tia Trailblazer like NYC Ballet principal dancer Ashley Bouder, Red Bull Global rallycar driver Collette Davis or award-winning fashion designer Amy Smilovic and other fun surprises.
The best part about Tia Girl Club? Membership is free. You just have to follow Tia Girl Club on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Today I Am...excited to support Tia Girl Club and their kickstarter campaign.

7 Brow-Raising Things About Jaden Smith's Bae Sarah Snyder

Gypsy Sport - Front Row - Spring 2016 MADE Fashion WeekTo anyone who's been totally crushing on Jaden Smith, allow us to extend our sincere apologies because the actor officially has a new bae in Sarah Snyder. Since they reportedly began dating in June, we've spotted the pair boo'd up in the front row at New York Fashion Week as well as on the city streets. As far as we can tell, Sarah appears to be a bit of a bada** with a serious IDGAF attitude.

While we try to come up with a nickname for the couple (Saden, Jarah?), here are seven brow-raising tidbits of bae-formation you need to know about Jaden's new girl.

She's older than Jaden.

At the ripe old age of 19, Sarah is two years Jaden's senior.

She's a model.

According to Hollywood Life, Sarah is a model, which totally explains why her Instagram page is filled with mag-worthy shots.

She's not afraid of a little PDA.

Judging by Jaden and Sarah's hot and steamy makeout sesh in New York this summer, she's not too shy to show everyone that what she and her new boyfriend have is definitely real.

Sarah is bold AF.

Instead of deleting all social media profiles and avoiding the rumor mill, Sarah seemingly thumbed her nose at the larceny allegations by sporting a T-shirt with that bore her mugshot.

Speaking of tees, her T-shirt game is on fleek...

...and seemingly reflects how #unbothered she is.

She may have dated model Ian Connor.

Back in June, it appeared that Ian put Sarah on blast on Twitter with a rude AF message that thanked Jaden for wifing her up.

She's been arrested - twice.

Whoa - we know that Jaden is a bit of a rebel himself, but his new GF apparently took it a step too far in June when authorities charged her with grand larceny after alleging that she stole a 16,000 Hermès handbag. Back in 2013, Sarah also wound up behind bars in North Carolina and was charged with breaking and entering, larceny and conspiracy.

No shade, but are we the only ones wondering what the Smiths think about Jaden's new boo?

Topshop Unique - Arrivals - LFW SS16Bella Thorne is getting her own show on ABC Family and we have a feeling Pretty Little Liars fans are going to be excited about.

The network ordered pilot Famous In Love, which will be co-written and executive produced by PLL boss Marlene King, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Karey Burke, exec vp programming and development at ABC Family, said the TV drama will "go behind the scenes of young Hollywood to tell a sexy, soapy tale about what it's like to make a movie - and fall in love - in L.A."

A photo posted by BELLA (@bellathorne) on

The drama is based on Rebecca Serle's novel by the same name (she's co-writing the series with Marlene), and centers on Paige (Bella), "an ordinary college student who gets her big break after auditioning for the starring role in a Hollywood blockbuster. She must now navigate her new star-studded life and undeniable chemistry with her two co-leads while uncovering the truth about what happened to a famous missing pop star."

Bella shared the news with fans Wednesday, writing, "Excited for this!," alongside a shot of the Hollywood Reporter's article about it. We are too.

The network is not only set to produce the Bella-led drama, but also recently green lit a Nicki Minaj-produced comedy based on the rapper's life. Just two more reasons to get really excited about 2016.

Ferrari's 60th Anniversary In The USA Gala - ArrivalsMegan Fox is usually private when it comes to her kids, but for some reason she decided to change that up and posted the most adorable shot ever of her son Bodhi.

In the photo, her little one rocks a Nirvana shirt, flashes a smile, palms a stuffed animal and made us melt with his big blue eyes. "Bodhi: Stunner. Clown. Unicorn," she captioned the Instagram shot. There is way too much cuteness going on in this snap.

A photo posted by Megan Fox (@the_native_tiger) on

This is the first time Megan has posted a photo of Bodhi since January, when she put up a heartwarming shot of herself kissing his fingers while he sat in a play chair. "I will give you roots and I will give you wings," she captioned the photo.

Megan and her estranged husband Brian Austin Green are parents to the 20-month-old and his big brother, 3-year-old Noah Shannon. After shocking us with the announcement of their separation in August, Megan also made a return to Instagram after a 23-week break.

"Hi. I'm still here, I just continue to have an angsty relationship with social media," she wrote last month. "But what better way to express my apprehension than with a selfie. This time in black n white!"

Have you ever poured a bowl of Lucky Charms, and then picked out several more marshmallows out the box to top off your cereal? You're not alone.

General Mills is finally making Lucky Charms marshmallow lovers' dreams come true by releasing a marshmallow only box of Lucky Charms.

The only catch is that there are only 10 boxes available...and you have to win one to get it. As for how you can win a box, you simply have to share a photo of yourself holding an imaginary box of Lucky Charms on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram between October 14 and 18 using #Lucky10Sweepstakes.

"We wanted to have a little fun and connect with our fans. It needed to be easy and accessible for everyone to have a chance to win and celebrate what makes us, us - the marshmallows," Amanda Hill, associate marketing manager of Lucky Charms said on the General Mills blog.
We're just going to cross our fingers that this Marshmallow-only box of Lucky Charms isn't just a one-time thing. In the meantime though, excuse us while we go post 1,000 photos for the contest. That box is life.

Demi Lovato makeup malfunction picsUh-oh! Demi Lovato had a kinda-sorta makeup malfunction. No worries, though, despite the powdery look, she still looked kick-a**.

We've been there, for sure, and Demi is in good company, joining pal Taylor Swift, who also recently had a similar makeup oops with her under eye makeup.

Of course, add the paparazzi's flash to the equation and it shows off the error even more. In lower lighting, it was probably no biggie.

Demi is already a beauty goddess with her flawless skin and No Makeup Monday perfection. Hey, makeup malfunctions happen...life goes on.

Taylor Swift Opens Up About That 'Bad Blood' Katy Perry Speculation

Katy Perry and Taylor Swift at the 2011 American Music Awards - Backstage And AudienceSo is it or isn't it? Is Taylor Swift's infamous hit song "Bad Blood" REALLY about Katy Perry like everyone thinks it is?

Not only did Tay show off her hot bod on the cover of GQ, but she also dished on the tune. She shared some deets on who it's about.

"You're in a[n] interview, and the writer says, 'Who is that song about? That sounds like a really intense moment from your life.' And you sit there, and you know you're on good terms with your ex-boyfriend, and you don't want him-or his family-to think you're firing shots at him. So you say, 'That was about losing a friend.' And that's basically all you say. But then people cryptically tweet about what you meant. I never said anything that would point a finger in the specific direction of one specific person, and I can sleep at night knowing that. I knew the song would be assigned to a person, and the easiest mark was someone who I didn't want to be labeled with this song. It was not a song about heartbreak. It was about the loss of friendship."

The word on the street is that the track is about Katy because she stole Taylor's backup dancers. She also dated Tay's infamous ex-boyfriend John Mayer.

During the same sit-down, she was asked if she's worried her lyrics will be perceived differently than intended.

"No. Some of the things I write about on a song like 'Blank Space' are satire. You take your creative license and create things that are larger than life. You can write things like I get drunk on jealousy but you'll come back each time you leave, 'cause darling I'm a nightmare dressed like a daydream. That is not my approach to relationships. But is it cool to write the narrative of a girl who's crazy but seductive but glamorous but nuts but manipulative? That was the character I felt the media had written for me, and for a long time I felt hurt by it. I took it personally. But as time went by, I realized it was kind of hilarious."

One Direction 'Perfect' Lyrics About Taylor Swift? Sounds Like 'Style'

one direction perfect lyrics about taylor swift styleOne Direction's new song "Perfect" is here and it's beyond perfect! Buzz initially swirled that the lyrics could be about Harry Styles' ex-gf, Taylor Swift (and the Haylor era), and now that we've got the full lyrics...um, yeah, we'd say there are plenty of Tay references.

Plus, how much does "Perfect" sound like Taylor's "Style"? Listen to the two songs mashed up below and you'll be blown away by the similarities!

"Perfect" Lyrics:

I might never be your knight in shining armor
I might never be the one you take home to mother
And I might never be the one who brings you flowers
But I can be the one, be the one tonight

When I first saw you
From across the room
I could tell that you were curious (Oh yeah)
Girl, I hope you're sure
What you're looking for
'Cause I'm not good at making promises

But if you like causing trouble up in hotel rooms
And if you like having secret little rendezvous
If you like to do the things you know that we shouldn't do
Baby, I'm perfect
Baby, I'm perfect for you

And if you like midnight driving with the windows down
And if you like going places we can't even pronounce
If you like to do whatever you've been dreaming about
Baby, you're perfect
Baby, you're perfect
So let's start right now

I might never be the hand you put your heart in
Or the arms that hold you any time you want them
But that don't mean that we can't live here in the moment
'Cause I can be the one you love from time to time

When I first saw you
From across the room
I could tell that you were curious (Oh yeah)
Girl, I hope you're sure
What you're looking for
Cause I'm not good at making promises

But if you like causing trouble up in hotel rooms
And if you like having secret little rendezvous
If you like to do the things you know that we shouldn't do
Baby, I'm perfect
Baby, I'm perfect for you

And if you like midnight driving with the windows down
And if you like going places we can't even pronounce
If you like to do whatever you've been dreaming about
Baby, you're perfect
Baby, you're perfect
So let's start right now

And if you like cameras flashing every time we go out (Oh yeah)
And if you're looking for someone to write your breakup songs about
Baby, I'm perfect
Baby, we're perfect

If you like causing trouble up in hotel rooms
And if you like having secret little rendezvous
If you like to do the things you know that we shouldn't do
Baby, I'm perfect
Baby, I'm perfect for you

And if you like midnight driving with the windows down
And if you like going places we can't even pronounce
If you like to do whatever you've been dreaming about
Baby, you're perfect
Baby, you're perfect
So let's start right now

Did you catch all the (possible) Taylor references? MTV.com did a pretty excellent breakdown of the One Direction's "Perfect" lyrics being a response to Taylor's song lyrics, so that's worth checking out, but this mashup of Taylor's "Style" and 1D's "Perfect" is cray:

Zendaya Attends Nordstrom Del Amo Fashion Center Opening GalaIs there anything Zendaya can't do?!

Our girl - who keeps giving us life in every photo she posts - recently channeled actress and former supermodel Grace Jones for a Mane Addicts photo shoot and totally nailed it. "Paying homage to the legendary Grace Jones #hightopfaderealness," she captioned the shot, which showed her rocking a printed bandeau top and high-waist skirt, as well as one major high top fade.

A photo posted by Zendaya (@zendaya) on

Needless to say, that's a tough hairstyle to pull off, but Zendaya does it flawlessly (not that we're surprised), giving one serious pose as she stands in front of a floral painted wall. And that was just the beginning.

Mane Addicts, who chose the K.C. Undercover star as their Mane Muse, also showed her slaying several other looks including a structured afro and "80's supermodel" locks. "I've taken fashion risks since I was really young," she told the site. "I've always been into dressing different and doing different things."

A photo posted by Larry Sims (@larryjarahsims) on

Zendaya's stylist and creative director, Law Roach, is her secret weapon when it comes to switching it up and killing it on red carpets. "When I do my hair, it's usually a collaboration with me and Law," she continued. "He comes up with the idea. It all comes from his brain, [but] sometimes he comes up with an idea and then we all just talk about it, and it turns into something else."

They not only come up with her red carpet looks together, but they're also collaborating on Zendaya's upcoming shoe line. Considering our jaws drop every time she hits the carpet and we swooned over the released shots of her shoe line, it's safe to say these two are a match made in fashion heaven.

4 Easy, DIY Hacks That Transform Your Old Makeup Into Cosmetic Gold

Eye shadow, lipstick and nail polish on tableIt's always a sad day when you look inside the tube of your favorite concealer or your to-die-for mascara and realize it's time for old faithful to retire. From dried-out, gel eyeliner to crushed-up bits of eye shadow, it may seem like your precious product is destined for the trash. That is, unless you're ready to get DIY savvy. Old products don't have to be put in the makeup graveyard if you know what to do with them. There are plenty of ways to revive your cosmetics before they truly go off to the great beyond.

1. Take Your Old, Broken Eye Shadow and Make a Funky, New Nail Polish
beautyIf you've accidentally crushed up your favorite palette, or your token shimmery shade is almost gone, fear not! You can put it on your nails instead.
nail polishHow do you start this mystical transformation? First things first, you will need a bottle of clear nail polish, your old eye shadow, tweezers and some nail polish remover. Take the tweezers and break up your eye shadow until it becomes a fine powder. Then, use the tweezers to take out the product, and put it in the clear nail polish bottle. At first, the powder may rest at the top, but if you give it time it will sink to the bottom. When you're satisfied with the shade, shake the bottle until the eye shadow is evenly distributed. Then, voila, you have a new bottle of nail polish!

Tip: Rest the brush of the clear nail polish in a bit of nail polish remover to keep it moist while you're working, and remove any access product.

2. Take Old Lipstick Stubs and Mix Them for a New Shade
Lipstick bulletsDown to the very last of your best lipsticks? Try melting them together for a whole new product.

To do this, take out the nubs at the bottom of your lipstick tube with a small knife, and scoop them onto a spoon. Then, over low heat, melt the contents together and blend them as you go. If you don't want to use the stove, the microwave is always an option too, just be cautious of how long you keep the lipstick in! Finally, when the product is melted and mixed, pour the contents into a small plastic tub and place in the fridge to harden. When it's finally ready, you now have a new color to smack on your pout for no extra cost!

Tip: Experiment with what shade you want by adding less or more of one lipstick to the other before melting them down.

3. Turn Old Powder Into a Tinted Moisturizer
professional brush and foundationIf you're running out of your powder foundation or your pressed powder compact is crushed and unusable, try making yourself a tinted moisturizer.

The best way to do this is to take a facial moisturizer you use and pour some of the contents into an empty, travel-sized cosmetics bottle (you can find them at pretty much any drugstore). Alternate pouring into the bottle with pouring in old powder to make it easier to mix later. Finally, shake the contents and stir after to evenly distribute the powder.

Tip: Experiment with the color while you are mixing the contents to make sure it matches your skin tone. If you put too much moisturizer and not enough powder, the cream will be too light; put little moisturizer much and it'll be too dark. Test it out until you get the perfect shade.

4. Go From Fierce Lashes to Brows on Fleek
false eyelashesThis one is pretty simple but a good idea nonetheless. If you have a dried-up tube of mascara, don't throw away the wand! Clean the wand carefully with water and a little bit of soap and use it again later as an eyebrow brush with your favorite brow gel.

Tip: If you're not ready to get rid of your favorite tube of mascara, try submerging the tube (closed) in warm water to make the product less dry. Be careful though: If you've had the product for a while, it may be time to retire your mascara anyway because old mascara carries a lot of bacteria.

How to Get Rid of Dark, Under Eye Circles - Even if You Didn't Sleep Last Night

$

concealerDark under eye circles are the worst, making you look older and more tired even on a full night of sleep. I would know: The circles under my eyes look so bad, people will ask me if I'm sick if I'm not wearing makeup (No...I just look like this naturally...). My purple bags initiated my most epic makeup quest, and through years of sampling and returning all types of concealers and correctors, while scouring the Internet for the most helpful tutorials, I have found the solution. And the best part is, it works for just about anyone.
under eye concealerThere I am, au naturale, looking pretty darn depressed because I am exposing my dark circles to the world. But for the sake of the makeup goddesses, I will let you gals see my before and after.

Step No. 1: Always, Always, Always Moisturize
under eye moisturizerJust like you moisturize your face, underneath your eyes deserves some due moisturizing love as well. Not only will it help your makeup go on smoother, it can reduce the sunken-in look of your eyes. I use Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Correcting Eye Cream ($45, Clinique) because it has brightening agents that make my eyes lighter from the start, but #youdoyou.

Second, It's Time for the Corrector
bobbi brown correctorNow if your under eye circles aren't as bad as mine, you can skip this step and go straight for the concealer. But if you have darker hues that are often not covered by concealer alone, you might want to consider a corrector. The trick to a corrector is to find a shade that will counteract the color of your circles, rather than looking for something that matches your skin tone. Orange or pink will help to conceal blue-purple circles, while green can help reddish discoloration. My go-to is the Bobbi Brown corrector in Light Bisque ($25, Sephora), but be careful with this product. It's extremely thick, and a little on top of your darkest spots goes a long way.

Tip: To prevent your corrector from getting too thick, and having your concealer settle into your fine lines, apply the corrector with a dab of moisturizer on your finger to thin out the product.

Looking better already, right?

Time for Your Trusty Concealer!
IT cosmeticsIf I look excited in this picture, it's because I've just busted out my secret weapon. I've searched long and hard for the perfect concealer, and I found it with It cosmetics' eye lift in a tube ($29, Ulta). If I could have a lifetime supply of one product, it'd be this one right here.

But I digress...

When it comes to concealers, they always say find one that is two shades lighter than your natural skin tone so that it brightens underneath your eyes. Be sure not to go too light though; if you get a color that's too light, the dark purple hues will automatically shine through.

When applying your concealer, do it in triangle shapes under your eyes like I have here. This way, it's almost like you're putting a little spotlight over your focal point (your eyes of course) that brightens your face. Use your finger or a fluffy concealer brush, and stipple the concealer into your skin. Don't wipe it on because you will wipe off some of the product with it.

Thanks to my trusty eye lift in a tube, my next step brightens under my eyes even further.
under eye concealerThe other end of my concealer has a highlighting formula. I put that on top of my blended concealer in a few light dots under my eye, and go back in with the concealer brush (stippling of course) to add more light under my eyes.

Now, the Final Step We've All Been Waiting For
beauty blenderTake your beauty blender (you can find a cheap one at your local dollar store), and go in with a translucent finishing powder lightly over your concealer. My personal fave is Laura Mercier's Secret Brightening Powder ($25, Sephora) but E.L.F.'s High Definition Under Eye Setting Powder is a great, less expensive dupe for this ($6, Target). Some suggest to wet your beauty blender before dipping it into the setting powder, but I always found that takes off some of the concealer. I dip it in dry, and put only a tiny bit of product on to set my concealer. If you put too much, under your eyes will look white rather than simply highlighted.

Love this step for a few reasons: It helps set my makeup (which you always should do), prevents my eyeliner from running down and mixing with my concealer to give me raccoon eyes, and it also makes a shiny concealer formula more matte.

And here's the finished look!
under eye concealer
Look how happy I am, now that my dark circles are gone! Using this method, your makeup won't look too cakey (which can often happen when dealing with the under eyes) or settle too much into fine lines. I've tested it many times, and it lasts all day!

Should College Textbooks Be Free?

$

Teen girls on college campusThere are many girls who strive to go to college. They work hard to earn scholarships to avoid having to even pay for college because the price is outrageous and only seems to be going up. Not everyone qualifies for financial aid and not every one can get a scholarship regardless of how many they apply for. This leaves them taking loans out or potentially paying for college out of pocket if they're not qualified for a loan. I will say though, you usually will be qualified for a loan because in the long run, the government will be getting back at least double of what they gave you by the time you're able to pay them back, and who would not want double the money loaned out?

One of my professors brought up the subject that college is a business. The college we get accepted to and choose to go to is ultimately trying to sell us an education to gain money for its and the government's benefit. The fact that we have to pay $14,500+ every year, depending if you stay in your state or potentially double that if you're out of state, is a bit much. (This approximation is made from my public university and the people who come from out of state have pay $10,000 more not including an on campus dorm or apartment.) This is relatively cheap compared to some state schools and Ivy League schools. Shouldn't the tuition alone be enough? Where does all of this money go? It's stated in my tuition bill that there are university fees that equal up to $500 dollars! What is this specifically for? That extra $500 could buy me two, maybe three textbooks, which leads me to why students should not have to pay for textbooks.

College does not take into account the money spent on traveling to school every single day, the money you use to buy food at school every day, especially if you have an 8 a.m. class and you're getting on the bus at 6:30 a.m., then train at 7:15 a.m., you sometimes don't have time to eat. Naturally you'd want to get breakfast, and depending on your schedule, you may be there for lunch, and if you have a project due tomorrow and need the resources available at school, you'll be there for dinner. Other items college does not take into account are school supplies. You can go to Target or Wal-Mart and get good deals, but at the end of the day, it all adds up, leaving almost no room for an extra $500+ to buy textbooks.

College textbooks need to be supplied to the students for free being that as soon as they apply and accept their financial aid, they're already in debt, and the cost of textbooks can be outrageous. Of course, there are websites that you can rent your textbooks from and websites who will buy your textbooks from you if they are in good condition after the semester ends. But, you're likely to get back less than half of what you paid regardless of the condition. One thing I would make sure of though, is if you know your major and have bought books regarding your major, then I would not sell them back because it could be used for future reference within your college career.

Two tips I could give to you are the following: Look into a Facebook page that includes your graduating year and join it, such as "Some Awesome University Class of 2020" and people from other classes who may be graduating before you can and will post the books that they have and are selling usually three times less the price of the original. Buying a $150 book for $40 is quite a bargain! Another tip would be waiting until you start school and listening to what your professors have to say. Some of them may require a book; some of them may not even if the syllabus states that it does. The professor will likely tell you on the first day of classes not to waste your money because you will not be using the book at all.

At the end of the day, college textbooks are another expense an 18-year-old can not afford, or even her family could potentially not afford. We already pay thousands of dollars for an education that does not even guarantee us a job after graduation. Providing textbooks for students would save the students and their families thousands of dollars over the four-plus years of college that they attend, meaning that the saved money from not buying textbooks can be used for other top priorities such as school supplies or even dorm supplies if you are living on campus.

Once again, wait until your first day of classes to see if you need the textbook or not. I made that mistake this semester but quickly found out and was able to return the book for the full price. It's frustrating that you can go to Barnes and Nobles and buy a book for $17, but when it comes to college books, they get extremely pricey. But hey, in the long run, you will have a college education, hopefully doing what you love most.

The Dildo Selfie Stick: Is This A Real Thing?

disgusted young girl seflieDon't worry, before you think that all of humanity is doomed, be assured that the Dildo Selfie Stick isn't actually a real thing. I'm pretty sure the folks over at Saturday Night Live, though, are pissed off that they didn't think of this stunt first. The up-the-butt, "hands-free" selfie stick was a pretty good bit, though.

Viral marketer Michael Krivicka came up for the idea of the Dildo Selfie Stick joke after seeing Cinnamon Toast Crunch's Selfie Spoon promo. In an article from Fast Company, Michael talks about how after recognizing ridiculousness of the Selfie Spoon promo he decided to challenge himself to come up with something even more ludicrous.

After toying with other ideas like a toothbrush and toilet plunger selfie, he decided the Dildo Selfie Stick would get much more attention - and he was right. So why did he do this? Aside of being a hilarious prank, Michael wanted to investigate the world of social media: What do we care about (as consumers)? What information are we most attracted to or likely to share?

I myself am a victim to silly social ploys - I totally clicked on the first headline that reported the Dildo Selfie Stick. Did I have any intention on purchasing it? No. Did I think it was a good idea, or do I pride myself on the fact that I clicked on that instead of a CNN news report about global news in the Middle East? No freaking way. The reality is, though, that the world is drawn to insane viral news, and even more concerning - people actually wanted a Dildo Selfie Stick.

Michael actually received questions about purchasing the fake product and was even approached about sponsorship opportunities from different companies that wanted to ride the publicity train of the promotion. I'm all about spreading my brand, but I'm not sure I would endorse a Dildo Selfie Stick to do so. I can barely successfully capture a normal selfie.

Selfie's, though, are (fortunately or unfortunately) here to stay. Apple announced in its Live Event last month that the new iPhone 6s has a specific Selfie feature and album to store all of your selfies in. If you're still not into your friends' selfie game, you can use this app to filter out selfies from your Instagram feed.

FOB and Demi released a music video for the song too and we're head over heels in love because...Doug the Pug. Do you need any more explanation than the world's most famous pug?

Doug totally slays in the video, which manages to squeeze in some cheeky Fall Out Boy video references. What's better than Doug, FOB and Demi, really? It's like a match made in pop/punk/dog heaven.

Fall Out Boy wrote about the collab recently on their website, explaining: "'Irresistible' always felt like it could become something else, something exciting, strange, beyond...Demi Lovato has one of the most powerful voices today."

Preach.

We love Doug and his parodies of the original FOB "Irresistible" video, as well as references to "Dance Dance," "Sugar, We're Goin Down," "Uma Thurman" and "Centuries."

Also? A Demi pug lookalike and the Patrick Stump pug we never knew we needed in our lives.

Kardashian Kollection Handbag Australian Launch PartyWe've been waiting for some good news since Lamar Odom was hospitalized on Tuesday night and this morning, we finally got it!

The former NBA star's heart is on the mend, TMZ is reporting. This is obviously a very important development and the first real ray of hope we've had since he was found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel on Tuesday afternoon.

The site reports that Lamar's heart was tested this morning and that it was functioning "much better." Khloe Kardashian remains at Lamar's bedside, but doctors have asked for there to be "calm" in Lamar's room so that he will not be stimulated and will have a greater chance of healing.

The Kardashians have reportedly flown in specialists from Los Angeles to assess his prognosis. As of Friday morning, Lamar is still getting his nutrients from a feeding tube and has a breathing tube ventilating his lungs, E! News reports. If Lamar's condition remains the same, he will likely be transferred to another facility that can provide more long-term care.

These Fashion Bloggers Are Revealing Their Secrets for Having a Killer Insta Feed

Street Style: Day 2 - Milan Fashion Week SS16When it comes to being stylish social media mavens, we'll admit that there's probably no platform we love more than Instagram - after all, what better way is there to quickly share your style with others and get #ootd inspo? If your fave fashion blogger's feed has ever given you major Insta-envy, you're definitely not alone - which is why we talked to two 'gramming pros for the inside scoop on how to achieve a perfect feed!

1. Find a favorite filter and run with it

"I'm obsessed with VSCOcam. The filters are rich and beautiful and make your photos look much more appealing. My favorite filter on there HB1," says Cortne Morgan (@cortnemorgan), the Georgia-based founder of the blog We're Not Exclusive.

Michaela Del Viscovo (@_michaelachristine), blogger of By Michaela Christine, agrees with Cortne about having a "favorite child" when it comes to filters. "A6 all the way!"

In order to get a cohesive feed and hone your aesthetic, picking a go-to filter or combination of layered filters can help to create your signature look. Try playing around with different filters on apps like VSCOcam and Afterlight, which can provide a unique alternative to the filters made by Instagram.

2. Don't just slap a filter on

"A little trick I use on FaceTune is the teeth whitening tool to whiten any backgrounds that, in my opinion, need to be whitened in order to go with my feed more! I've been using the built-in tools on Instagram a lot; mainly lux and brightness," says Michaela.

While filters are great, they shouldn't be the only adjustments you're making to your photos before they hit the 'gram! Playing around with brightness, contrast and saturation using an app like Snapseed before you add a filter can make all the difference between an okay photo and a killer shot.

3. A well-rounded feed is key

"Lately, I've been loving taking detail shots - instead of the full outfit, just a standout part. Fringe on jeans, patterns on tops, a bit of an accessory peek. That, and food of course!" says Cortne.

Even if Insta-worthy outfits are the main attraction when it comes to your feed, mixing in other shots of things like your to-die-for brunch from last weekend, details on your favorite accessory or cool architecture around your city can keep your feed fresh and save it from being repetitive!

4. Being picky is totally okay

"I am definitely guilty of trying to keep a theme within my feed. Right now, my theme is mostly blacks, whites and greys. I maintain it by being very picky with the pictures I upload. It's all about having an eye for what will blend in with your feed when taking pictures," says Michaela.

If you're trying to keep a certain theme or aesthetic within your Instagram feed, it's totally okay to be picky with what you post! While a shot may be amazing, go with your gut if you feel like it may not match the rest of your photos.

5. For #ootds, it's all in the details

A photo posted by By Cortne M (@cortnemorgan) on

When asked about her secrets for taking the perfect #ootd shot, Cortne says, "a nice background without too much clutter and a fantastic outfit that shows dimension, with layers and accessories. Also, make sure whoever is taking a photo of you has the sun behind them."

The takeaway? For the perfect outfit of the day shot, paying attention to the little things is necessary. Make sure to experiment with different lighting, angles, backgrounds and details in your outfit - it's the the little things come together to make a fab photo!

6. More is more

"Whenever I have someone take my OOTD photo, I always have them take literally a hundred photos and furiously click away at the camera button so I have plenty of options to choose from," Michaela says.

We'll let you in on a little secret: most of your favorite bloggers aren't just taking one photo and getting the perfect shot on the first try. When you take a bunch at a time, you'll have options when you go to edit them later? Accidentally closed your eyes in one of the photos? If you take tons, it won't be an issue!

7. Enlist your BFF

"Have a close friend, sibling or relative take your picture because you'll feel a lot more comfortable around them and won't hold back when posing," Michaela says.

Anyone who's taken an #ootd shot before knows that asking someone to take your picture can feel a little awk - which means enlisting a close friend or sibling means your end shot will be as natural and genuine as possible.

Here Are The Most Instagrammed Locations In North America

freedom traveler woman standing ...Fast Company recently reported on website Busbud's decision to research the most Instagrammed locations in North America, and surprisingly it wasn't Kim Kardashian's living room.

As you would imagine, parks, beaches, historic sites, gardens, and wineries were among the top locations. I tend to Instagram more when I'm tipsy, too.

On Busbud's website, they created this awesome interactive image where you click into each geographic location to see where the most Instagrammed spot is. In Florida it's no surprise that it's South Beach, and in California it's Disneyland. I would make my kid Instagram their magical experience, too, if they begged me for an iPhone at the ripe age of 12.

Hashtags were also a big part of this research, revealing what images are viewed and shared the most. For example, #beach has over 97 million posts, with other hashtags like #hiking bringing in 12 million.

What's the most Instagrammed location where you live? Find out on Busbud's interactive graphic, and tweet me @lizprugh.

Rumer Willis Dyed Her Hair Strawberry Blonde

The School of Petiquette Opening - 9/25/15When fall hits, we usually see ladies taking their hair a shade or two darker, but Rumer Willis switched things up altogether when she debuted her hot new hair color in New York City this week.

The Dancing With The Stars alum made jaws drop when she showed off her strawberry blonde locks during an appearance on Extra in New York City Thursday. Rumer was on hand to promote her role as Roxie Hart in the Broadway musical Chicago, which she made her debut in last month.
Rumer Willis Visits When she did, her whole family - dad Bruce Willis, mom Demi Moore and sisters Tallulah and Scout Willis - were all on hand, with Rumer telling E! News having them there for opening night meant so much to her. "It was so wonderful," she said. "I mean, they're amazing and they're so supportive of me. I think that they know this has been a dream of mine-to be on Broadway since I was a little kid. So it was amazing not just for me, but for them to see me do something I've wanted to do for so long."

Although Rumer does sport a curly blonde bob in the show - that has been nothing more than a wig. Off stage, the actress had been rocking a short, dark brown pixie cut prior to changing her hair color.

Perhaps her role as Roxie gave her some hair inspiration? Either way, we're loving the look on her.
