Doing the ALS ice bucket challenge with regular tap water is so yesterday.
First, Olivia Wilde doused herself with a bucket of what she tried to pass off as breast milk and now Matt Damon has taken it to a whole new level with toilet water.
In his video, he explains that Ben Affleck and Jimmy Kimmel nominated him to take the challenge and he took more than 24 hours to respond.
Why the delay? "It posed kind of a problem for me," he explains. "Not only is there a drought here in California, but I cofounded water.org, and we envision the day when everybody has access to a clean drink of water -- and there are about 800 million people in the world who don't, so dumping a clean bucket of water on my head seemed a little crazy."
Luckily, the actor had a solution: use water straight from his toilet for the challenge. "The water in our toilets in the west is actually cleaner than the water that most people in the developing world have access to, so as disgusting as this may seem, hopefully it'll highlight the fact that it's a big problem, and together, we can do something about it."
After he pours toilet water over his head, Matt nominated George Clooney, Bono and Tom Brady to take the challenge next.
We love how he took something that's getting overdone and used it to bring awareness to ALS along with a whole new charity. Well played, Matt, well played. Now go shower!
