And the duo hit the blue carpet at the Billboard Music Awards Sunday to talk all about it.
"The album's finished now," Avril told Billboard. "It's coming along really great. I've been in the studio for an entire year. The first single is 'Here's to Never Growing Up.' It's moving up the Billboard charts and we love that."
Avril and the Nickelback frontman, who met while she was writing "Here's to Never Growing Up," said Chad will be on several of the songs on her fifth studio album.
"We wrote so many songs together, and [he's] producing some of them," Avril continued.
So, what can fans expect from All Over the Place?
"The album is really diverse," Avril said. "We have a bunch of songs that are like the first single, like pop rock. We have a lot of piano ballads. I have a single called 'Hello Kitty,' it's kind of electronic."
"I've experimented with different sounds and I've worked with new people I haven't worked with before and I like that, because it just brings a fresh energy and a new sound overall. It's still me, but it's really nice," Avril went on. "I'm excited. I'm having a lot of fun."
Avril's upcoming album is set to be released in September.
