Special guests and fans were treated to a special preview of The Amazing Spider-Man on Monday in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles wasn't the only city with the exclusive preview, cites around the country and the world joined the event. These cities included New York City, Rio de Janeiro and London through a satellite telecast. Each of those cities had a special guest.

In L.A., the director of the movie, Marc Webb, treated guests and fans around the world with a new trailer that will debut online at midnight on Tuesday, as well as some scenes from the movie.

"I want the movie to focus on the comics because I loved reading them when I was a child," said Webb.

Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy, was the special guest in Rio de Janeiro. She talked about her character, and how she's the "complete opposite of Mary Jane," who fans are used to seeing in the Spider-Man franchise.

"Gwen is the bi-polar opposite of MJ," said Stone. "Gwen falls in love with Peter Parker, and MJ falls in love with Spider-Man."

Rhys Ifans, who plays Dr. Curt Connors and the Lizard, was present in London to talk about his character in the movie. "Dr. Connors, what makes him more emotional is that he was close with Peter's father, so this makes the relationship [between Dr. Connors and Peter] more complex."

Guests and fans in New York City had Spider-Man himself, played by Andrew Garfield. He had a tough question to answer: why you want to be Spider-Man?

"Cause I'm not an idiot," Garfield said. "It's a thing anyone wants."

The Amazing Spider-Man releases in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3.
