Contestant RaeLynn, 17 of Houston opened the show with her rendition of Pistol Annies' Hell on Wheels. After citing Miranda Lambert, wife of judge Blake as her inspiration it was a no-brainer that she would choose Shelton over Levine. Crowd favorite Jesse Campbell was not only the first singer of the night to convince all four judges to press their buttons; he also became the number three trending topic on Twitter after what seemed like only a few seconds on stage. After a mini showdown between Aguilera and Green, Campbell decided to go with Aguilera, starting her team off strong.
Rocker Juliette Sims stole the show with her stage presence and although Levine seemed like a fitting choice the singer chose to have Green be her mentor. The Maroon 5 front man redeemed himself when former Mouseketeer Tony Lucca chose him rather than any of the three other judges whom all pressed their button in his favor. If it were not for Cee-Lo pressing Levine's button for him Lucca may have chosen former fellow Mouseketeer Christina Aguilera to take on the job as his mentor in the competition.
After Sunday night's episode heating up everyone's homes nationwide it is obvious that we are all in for a treat. Seeing which artist the judges pick to bring on the show to assist them with mentoring will be quite interesting. Holding no punches his time around, their Betty White-assisted promo commercial (which aired during Super Bowl) proved that this season will be a real live show down.
