Demi Lovato's Hilarious Interview Answer to a Basic Question Is Everything

Demi Lovato funny interview question favorite dish videoDemi Lovato gave the perfect answer to a tired old interview question - but not everyone got the joke, unfortch.

We love Demi's sense of humor and, as promoting your stuff can make any celeb a little weary, Demi gave a clever and hilarious answer to a question about her "favorite dish."

Mugs.

Get it? Favorite dish...mugs?

If you didn't catch it right away, of course, Demi wasn't talking about 'dish' in the sense of food, but more like plates, bowls, mugs, etc.

She joked, "I like mugs because they're very comfortable in your hand and they hold the hot things that you don't have to touch - so, um, you know, coffee or hot tea."

Also? She's no dummy, though some interpreted her answer that way - she was just having a little fun!

Justin Bieber Has Crazy Excuse for Not Winning Beer-Shotgunning Contest

Justin Bieber shotgunning beerJustin Bieber might be a badass but that doesn't mean he's a party boy...

The Biebs totally proved he's not the swaggiest boss at everything in life after losing a beer shotgunning contest. The "bro" moment went down when the "What Do You Mean" singer visited Las Vegas last weekend to watch friend Floyd Mayweather's fight.

While there, the Biebs took time out to take part in a competition of his own. In a video uploaded to his Instagram, Justin is seen in a shotgunning contest with friend Sam Shahidi while at a pool party. Unfortunately for Bieber, he wasn't very good at shotgunning his can of Corona and his pal totally crushed him.

"I lost but I didn't go to college," Justin captioned the video. Watch the hilariousness, below.

This Trans Woman Was Denied a Driver's License For Not Looking Like a Man

Every day, trans people face discrimination - even in the smallest of ways. Not everyone understands what it means to identify as a gender that is different from the sex that one was born with, and often that leads to complications, both with our laws and policies and in our everyday societal interactions. Nothing proves that more than this video of a trans woman being denied a renewed driver's license for not presenting as the gender listed on her original license. Luckily this story may have a happier ending than it did beginning.

21-year-old Alexandra Glover went to the Office of Motor Vehicles (already a hellish experience) in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to receive a new photo ID, only to be told that it wasn't possible due to her feminine look. According to Alexandra, this has never happened to her before - though she is listed as male on her driver's license and does not wish to change that fact at present time, she has always been allowed to wear makeup and have long hair in her photos. This time, however, the OMV worker refused to take Alexandra's picture, which she did in compliance with an existing policy which said that one must appear as the gender listed on their license in the photo.

Alexandra's friend Harlee Poitra captured the exchange between Alexandra and the OMV worker on her phone, and it has gone viral on Facebook. It even caught the attention of OMV commissioner Stephen Campbell, who apologized to Alexandra and insisted that his team was revising the policy so these issues could be avoided in the future.

My friend Alex Glover was getting another license at the Baton Rouge DMV and was denied her license for being...

Posted by Harlee Poitra on Saturday, September 5, 2015

This may seem like a simple annoyance, but it's just one of many that trans people have to face on a regular basis. We live in a world that is becoming more and more accepting of different gender identities, and it's important that we create policies that don't force people who are not cisgender to identify with something they are not comfortable with. Changing the OMV policy may seem like a small step, but it's still an important one.

This Dad's Punishment for His Daughter's Huge Cellphone Bill Is Everything

Young woman using smartphone in cafe, mid sectionI don't know about you, but I can't help but cringe at those viral videos of parents who humiliate their kids for bad behavior. There's something really sad about having a mom or dad publicly shame their own children when effing up seems to be in the dictionary definition of "being a teenager." Luckily, not every viral sensation punishment is as embarrassing or cruel. This dad just came up with a genius way to "punish" his daughter for her super high cellphone bill, and he deserves an award for serving up the Lesson of the Year.

We've all been guilty of going a little too SnapChat happy and ringing up a massive data bill, and 13-year-old Julia Cramer is no exception. She racked up over $500 bucks on her family's cellphone plan, which wasn't exactly a happy surprise for her dad, Jared. But instead of locking her in her room, he grounded her stuff instead. Jared put Post-It notes on Julia's favorite things with notes on what chores she would have to do to earn them back, and it's pretty damn genius.

Here's how it worked: if Julia wanted to wear things like her favorite pair of shoes or rock her fave lipstick color, she would have to do a certain amount of chores in order to "unlock" them. Jared's punishment was hardly unreasonable: the punishment started over a week before school did, so Julia could realistically earn back everything in her closet before heading back for the first day. While her makeup, sweaters, and other "extras" were locked away, Julia still had three outfits and the essentials to get by until the chores were complete. Sounds pretty fair to me.
Yeah, okay, doing chores to get back your own stuff is totally annoying, but so is shelling out major bucks so that your daughter can post Instagram pics of the last days of summer. This dad did what every punishment should do: teach you the value of hard work while giving you incentive to never, ever screw up in the same way again.

Teens are inevitably going to mess up sometimes - heck, that's what your teen years are for! - but something tells me that Julia is being raised right by her smart dad.

Let's Nix the 'R' Word From our Vocabulary

Have you ever said that something or someone is "retarded," when you really meant "stupid" or "dumb?" I have - long before I realized how hurtful and hateful that term truly is. When you refer to something as "retarded," the only ones you are insulting are the people who actually suffer from an intellectual disability and their loved ones, insinuating that retarded equates with being dumb or stupid. In fact, even the term "mental retardation" has been legally replaced with "intellectual disability," due to its offensive nature.

Back in 2012, Ann Coulter, a conservative political and social commentator, called President Barack Obama a "retard" following a presidential debate via her Twitter page. Despite the amount of backlash Coulter received regarding her statement, she did not regret it. Instead, she defended herself by saying that since she was not actually referring to someone with an intellectual disability, she is not wrong for using the term, and that she would never use it in that sense. Despite a person's intentions for using the word, it still has a negative connotation, and will likely be interpreted in the most derogatory sense.

The day after Ann posted the tweet, Special Olympics athlete, John Franklin Stephens, posted an open letter to Coulter on the Special Olympics blog. In his letter, he writes about his life as a man with Down Syndrome who has to deal with the public's negative perception of those with intellectual disabilities. He goes on to express how hurtful and insulting the "R" word really is, and that individuals, like himself, are much more than what people see on the outside. Before concluding his letter with an invitation to the Special Olympics, he tells Ann, "No one overcomes more than we do and still loves life so much."

Although this incident occurred nearly three years ago, it has recently been revived through the power of Facebook. The overall message is still just as important today as it was three years ago. That is the best/worst thing about Facebook, and the Internet, in general - once something has been posted, it is there forever. What better time for this event to resurface than now? We are currently living during a time of progression, equality and acceptance, so it is only appropriate that this debate has once again been brought up.

I understand that those who use the "R" word usually do not mean any harm by it, but they are also unaware how hurtful the term actually is. At one point, I was one of those people; I loosely used phrases such as, "You're so retarded" jokingly with my friends and family, never thinking twice about what I said. A lot has changed in the last few years, though. This is now a topic that I feel quite strongly about, and that is why I have completely eliminated the word "retarded" from my vocabulary. The same goes for other words that are commonly used in a negative sense, such as "gay" and "faggot." Why do we feel the need to call someone or something any of these nasty terms, when we really mean stupid, dumb, pointless, silly, etc.?

Now, I do not want to dictate which words people should or should not use. I only want to encourage them to educate themselves on controversial terms and their origins, and to be more conscious of what they say, because you never know how you are going to be perceived.

There's Such Thing As a Pink Dolphin, and It's Ridiculously Adorable

RARE Northern Pink Glitter Dolphin!!
Sorry, sea urchins and manatees: I have to give the Cutest Animal in the Ocean award to dolphins. What can I say? It's hard to compete with those flippers and perpetually happy-sounding squeals. (Someone please remind me why there hasn't been a Pixar movie starring exclusively talking dolphins yet?!) You may know that dolphins are the sweetest sea mammals in the ocean, but did you know that there's such thing as a pink dolphin? Surprisingly, pink dolphins really do exist outside of cartoons, and one was just spotted in the waters of the Louisiana River.

The dolphin spotted in the Louisiana River is named Pinky (obviously) and was discovered by Captain Erik Rue of Calcasieu Charter Service, who saw her back in 2007 when she was still a baby and swimming alongside her mom. Now Pinky is all grown up and has her own adult dolphin squad to pal around with. (Even Taylor Swift's girl squad doesn't have a pink dolphin in it yet!)

Pink dolphins may be rare in the United States (they are rarely spotted outside of the Amazon River) but there's a chance we could see more of them in upcoming years. According to the Captain, there's Pinky the dolphin may be pregnant. Could there be a Pinky, Jr. on the way? Fingers crossed! Here's hoping that we get even more pics of Pinky, and her potential dolphin babies, in the future: it's just too presh.

Why I Will Never Get Breast Implants

Young woman holding cocnutsMy boobs aren't huge, but I'm not super flat either. I do think, however, that I am flat chested. I never really minded. What's the big deal anyways ? Why do I need huge boobs? I never really envied girls with huge boobs; I just never really cared.

In my opinion, I don't think I'd get implants. It looks painful and for me, uncomfortable. I see a lot of girls play around and touch each other's boobs. That's super weird. I don't care who you are, you touch mine, and I'll kick you in the face. I always tense up when someone talks about boobs or their boobs being sore. It's a weird thing about me; I know. I think my biggest fear is to have breast cancer. I feel a great deal of sadness when I see women struggle with breast cancer . They are truly strong women.

I guess my advice is if you're really unhappy with the way your boobs look, you could consider breast implants. Just be safe do get them with a professional doctor. A lot of women have died because of cheap breast/butt implants. Don't be one of them. Be smart and do your homework before anything.

I Fell Hard for my Grade School Crush

Drawing togetherIt was fourth grade, the grade I had a boyfriend and I thought we were going to date until middle school. I never held his hand or hugged him; we just called ourselves "a couple." It wasn't a real relationship.

In my school, there was this club called the After School Club, and kids could sign up for extra homework help and activities. I joined in third grade and loved it, so I was back for my second year of fun. I was extra excited because my boyfriend was sitting in the same table as me and my best friend. They both sat across from me. It was so much fun we would always have the weirdest conversations, and they were both so funny.

One day when we were all goofing off after finishing our homework, we were all just laughing about random stuff. I was rocking back in my chair, but I thought I'd be fine because my hands were holding on to the table. That was a mistake. I rocked back way too far, lost my balance and fell backward. My head hit the floor hard. The table fell next, but my hands were there to catch it before it hit my stomach.

The After School Club teachers hurried over to me and lifted up the table, picking up all the papers that went flying. They stood my chair up. I could feel my face burning with embarassment. I thought to myself, Maybe I can just laugh it off. I laughed and laughed, and my best friend attempted to laugh it off with me. I stayed quiet the rest of homework time until snack. That was definitely one moment I want to forget.

My Favorite Wes Craven Memories

LS.Scream#1.IS.12/18.Director Wes Craven and Rose McGowan who stars in his new film Scream, at the pEveryone remembers their first scary movie.

I'm an anxious person; I cover my eyes during Shark Week commercials, sprint up my basement stairs after turning the lights out and would definitely use a friend as a shield in a haunted house (if you even managed to drag me inside in the first place). Naturally I surprised myself when I not only sat through Wes Craven's Scream for the first time, but really enjoyed it! Since that afternoon (you think I watched it for the first time at night? As if!), it's become one of my all-time favorites.

Like Wes's other scary movies (can you say A Nightmare on Elm Street?), Scream isn't your average masked-figure-wielding-a-weapon flick. Instead, Scream takes years and years of horror movie cliches and splatters them onto a fresh canvas, making a smart, chaotic, and yes, SCARY, new film. At its core, this movie is self-reflective: a scary movie whose characters talk about scary movies! Even mock them!

"What's your favorite scary movie?" Ghostface loves to ask his victims. Sidney Prescott, the female lead (played by Neve Campbell), rolls her eyes and replies into her hilariously-bulky '90s telephone, "What's the point? They're all the same. Some stupid killer stalking some big-breasted girl...who is always running up the stairs when she should be running out the front door. It's insulting." In the beginning, Drew Barrymore's character cries, "Who's there?" and Ghostface snaps, "Never say, 'Who's there?' Don't you watch scary movies? It's a death wish."

The late Roger Ebert said it perfectly in his original 1996 review of Scream: "The movie itself, for all of its ironic in-jokes, also functions as a horror film...that uses as many clichés as it mocks." It's smart, but it uses its tireless cliches to its advantage, making you scream and laugh all at once.

What I maybe love the most about the movie isn't even the movie itself, but its director, Wes Craven. One might think that a scary movie that mocks itself (before the Scary Movie series even started, too!), would be directed by a critic of the genre, but instead, it was brought to life by one of the genre's most beloved figures. Through Scream, he celebrated the genre that made him who he was, and will be remembered for, and that is what I like most of all.

#StopTheHate: This Female Is Taking Down A Major Website

lisbon portugal february 6 ...Reddit, a social network news site, is being called out for its lack of policy around internet harassment. Internet activist Casey Stevens is spearheading project Operation Reddit Shine, forcing Reddit to acknowledge the harassment and racism on their site. Casey's operation is bringing the online hate-crimes to advertisers on Reddit, who otherwise have no idea that their ads are being ran next to racially discriminating content.

After first alerting Reddit with a petition when she was racially discriminated against on the site, Casey found that her efforts fell short, writing in the Huffington post, " ... a month later, when Reddit banned five subreddits whose users were found harassing others on and off the site, many were dismayed by the fact that almost all of the racist subreddits remained."

Adding fuel to the fire, Adweek reported that a report from the Southern Poverty Law Center states that Reddit has become an "incubator for white supremacists, boasting the 9th highest Alexa Internet traffic ranking in the United States and the 36th worldwide. Many of Reddit's racist subreddits are among its most popular."

Back in August NBC reported that a "subreddit" of discriminatory nature, a white nationalist group, provided a template for using Reddit to recruit for their cause. Let me state the obvious: This is wrong, hateful, and completely messed up.

Casey's efforts aren't going unnoticed with advertisers - Color of Change recently pulled one of their ads from Reddit, stating that their views didn't align with that of the ads (obvi.) Casey is next going to target Netflix and other big Reddit advertisers, hoping they, too, will pull their advertisements.

NBC also called out Reddit's CEO Steve Huffman for attempting to "hide hate" and ignore the discriminatory content and ads on the website, further bringing to light that more and more racist and hateful initiatives are present and active on the website.

Casey's attempts (and wins) in targeting advertisers to take down their ads will most definitely hurt the website financially, and her petitions to raise awareness are working. We can only imagine that with a voice from mega-giant Netflix will give her and the rest of Operation Reddit Shine they need to get that type of action that will #StopTheHate.

Blake Shelton in KansasWell, that was fast! Newly divorced country singer Blake Shelton is ready to move on and he has his eyes on you, Rihanna!

During a recent interview with Access Hollywood, Blake opened up about the new season of The Voice, and how Ri-Ri totally had a thing for him while being a judge on the show. Holler!

"I was amazed by Rihanna. She is so funny and she's crazy about me," Blake said on Tuesday, Sept. 8. "We'll probably end up hooking up at some point. I'm just saying."

He mused, "I see a collaboration, maybe not musically. You know what I'm saying?"

Errr! What the what?! They'd make an...interesting couple to say the least!

Rihanna isn't the only famous singer Blake's rumored to be feeling these days. There are reports that he and his fellow The Voice coach Gwen Stefani are getting close these days...if you know what we mean! She just recently filed for divorce from rocker Gavin Rossdale.

As for Blake's ex-wife Miranda Lambert? Well, she's been busy singing her heart out and covering Taylor Swift's "Bad Blood" with her besties. Watch that awesomeness, here.

Are Hair Knots Becoming the New Braids?

$

Rachel Comey SS16Throughout New York Fashion Week, we've noticed hairstylists gravitating toward perfectly imperfect knots to send down the runways, and we're obsessed. Less precious than braids, they feel both casual and intricately designed - and we can't wait to take them for a spin.

Hairstylist James Pecis is a huge fan of knots, using them backstage during New York Fashion Week for very different SS16 shows including desert-inspired, post-apocalyptic Rachel Comey and femme, floral Lela Rose.

"I use a lot of knots and stuff for shows because it just kind of breaks the idea of looking like it's a braid or anything thats too thought-through," James says. "It's another alternative, casual way to pull the hair up - it won't stay [forever], I promise."
Lela Rose SS16The above model rocked these tousled knots on the Lela Rose runway.

"The look...is supposed to be very feminine, we're just trying to give it a little bit of an edge," says James.

Here's his technique:

1. Prep dry hair with Alterna Haircare Bamboo Volume Uplifting Root Blast ($25, Beauty.com), applying the product from roots to tips.

2. Apply Alterna Haircare Bamboo Volume Weightless Whipped Mousse ($22, Beauty.com) around the hair line. Rough dry hair with a blow dryer.

3. Create a natural bend and add texture by using a one-inch curling iron.

4. Apply a liberal amount of Alterna Haircare Bamboo Style Cleanse Extend Translucent Dry Shampoo ($22, Beauty.com) to the back sections of hair and back-comb the lower center section.

5. Loosely pull that section back and tie hair into two knots, securing with bobby pins.

6. Mist with Alterna Haircare Caviar Anti-Aging Working Hair Spray ($28, Beauty.com) to keep in place.
Rachel Comey SS16
This full head of dramatic knots went down the Rachel Comey runway.

"It's a really cute summer look," James says. "It would be a really good wedding look."

While the effect is intricate, it's a lot easier than it looks:

1. Prep the hair with Phytovolume Actif Volumizing Spray ($29, Beauty.com) and rough dry with a blow dryer. The goal is to get added volume and texture into the hair.

2. Roughly go through the hair section by section, adding in the Phyto Professional Matte Texturizing Paste ($24, Beauty.com). This will give the hair the tackiness to hold the look together.

3. Divide the hair into five sections: one at the top, one on each side and two in the back.

4. Within each of these sections, pull the hair back and tie the hair into square knots. The result will look like a knot-braid, which will be secured with an elastic hair band at the end.

5. Finish by misting Phytolaque Soie Hairspray ($19, Beauty.com) to keep in place.

The best part of knots is they look best when they're a little messy, so there's no pressure to make them perfect. Remember: The right products are essential to making the knots stay. Good luck!

Oh, how we've missed your voice, Joe Jonas!

We were crushed when the Jonas Brothers went their separate ways as a band in 2013, but after watching Nick's solo career take off, we started to believe that they really did just want to go in different directions musically.

Now we get it more than ever after Joe just debuted a brand new song, "Cake by the Ocean" with his brand new band, DNCE. Catchy? You betcha. We like to think of it as a mix of Maroon 5 and old school Jonas Brothers. (Yes, we said OLD school JoBros!)
We can't help but wonder if the new song is about his new girl, Gigi Hadid?

These lyrics do have a definite "model" vibe to us...
"Walk for me, baby
I'll be Didd and you'll be Naomi, whoa-oh
Let's lose our minds and go f**king crazy
I-I-I-I-I-I keep on hoping we'll eat cake by the ocean"

"Having a reality TV show, everyone feels like they know you, but that's only 10% of my life. There's a whole other side of me that people don't see," she continued.

Some of the other reasons we like her Snaps are that we get to see more of her relationship with Tyga and we're also seeing that despite the fame, fortune and success, Kylie is a lot like any other 18-year-old who loves to curl up on the couch with her dogs and some fro-yo and watch movies.

The Live-Action 'Jungle Book' Trailer Features Scarlett Johansson in a Creepy Role

If you're a huge Disney fan (and really, I don't trust many people who aren't) you're likely stoked about the upcoming live-action adaptations of some of your favorite animated films. Emma Watson's Beauty and the Beast is on its way, but that's not the only live-action flick featuring one of your fave actresses that Disney is bringing us. The live-action adaptation of The Jungle Book hits theaters on April 16, 2016, and it just released a trailer featuring Scarlett Johansson that will totally freak you out.

The trailer doesn't tell us much about the movie, but it does feature a few recognizable characters from the original animated film. Mowgli, the "jungle boy," is once again the main character, and it seems that he'll interact with plenty of talking animals, just like in the original flick. Unfortunately, not every animal is super friendly. ScarJo voices a snake that talks like she's going to eat our poor Mowgli any second now... and given her size, it's more than possible. (Gulp.)

The original animated film was filled with goofy songs and comedic moments, but this new movie seems to be going in a different, far more action-packed direction. This jungle might not be as whimsical as its animated counterpart, but it definitely seems like a place ripe for epic adventures. I can't wait to see what trouble Mowgli and his animal friends get into this time around.

OMG! A New 'Mary Poppins' Movie is Happening

No matter what your stance on remakes, Hollywood is officially recycling every beloved movie ever, so you're probably going to be seeing plenty of them, whether you want to or not. Now, an iconic musical is getting a reboot: a new Mary Poppins movie is headed our way, which means that a whole new generation will finally learning the meaning (if not the proper spelling) of "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious."

But if you thought you were going to see the same song and dance (literally), that's not exactly what's going down with the new Mary Poppins film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this won't be your standard remake: in fact, the movie is actually more of a sequel. The story will be set 20 years after the original movie, which starred Julie Andrews in the titular role, and feature brand-new tunes. The original musical will borrow from the original Mary Poppins stories from author P.L. Travers, who was the subject of the (sob-inducing) film Saving Mr. Banks.

So far there's no word on who might play the magical nanny (or if she'll still look young despite the 20 year time jump) but I'm hoping that Frozen's Kristen Bell scores the titular part. She's peppy, has a killer voice, and already played the flying babysitter in a Funny or Die video. She could totally knock this role out of the park.

A sexy young muscular white man with a Celtic tattoo poses barechested in tight blue jeans. We have a love hate relationship with skinny jeans. They're SOOOOO uncomfortable (even jeggings aren't as comfortable as they claim to be), yet we love the way they look, so it's a sacrifice we sometimes have to make. Sometimes.

And don't even get us started about trying to take them off. We've all had that moment of panic, where we fear we're going to become the first girl to ever become permanently stuck in her skinny jeans.

As uncomfortable as skinny jeans are for us, imagine how they feel for guys who, you know, have some extra stuff getting squished under that super tight fabric. In this 27-year-old New Yorker's case, though, he decided to rock his skinny jeans one day and they actually helped prevent him from getting mugged.

How, you ask? If you've worn them, you've probably already guessed. Just as it's impossible for us to get stuff out of our own pockets while we're wearing them, the would-be robbers couldn't remove the guy's iPhone 6 or wallet from his super tight skinny jeans.

"Loose, messy nail art is so good," says Nonie Creme of Colour Prevail cosmetics, and we have to agree. During New York Fashion Week, Nonie did this pink gradient nail art at the Lela Rose SS16 show. It's so easy and low-key, but still eye-catching enough to beg the question, "Who did your nails?"

Nonie says to start by layering on a sheer wash of rose gold, using Nonie Creme Colour Prevails Nail Lacquer in Date Night ($8, Drugstore.com). Then, take the metallic silver Nonie Creme Colour Prevails Nail Lacquer in Party Girl ($8, Drugstore.com) and "just flicker it across the edge, kind of like icicles," Nonie says. There's no pattern - the effect should just be a loose ombré. Finally, add a chrome pink to the edges - Nonie mixed her own, but Sally Hansen Chrome Nail Polish in Violet Sapphire Chrome ($3, Amazon) should do the trick.

We're totally loving this new age of easy nail art. Now that you've mastered the gradient technique, you can try it with all sorts of colors. We think it would look killer with pale blue, silver and navy polish.
