Hot pink is trending! And we don't mean on Twitter.It seems like the 1980s are back and neon colors are the new fashion craze for the Spring/Summer season. The funky bright colors are everywhere from head to toes.
Neon colors have navigated onto all different types of apparel including shoes, shorts, belts, tops, nail polish and yes, even formal attire. Of course, celebs have been ahead of the curve on this and have been rocking their best bright outfits from last year, but now it has extended onto the streets.
'Hunger Games' star, Jennifer Lawrence, wore a hot pink gown to the 17thAnnual Screen Actors Guild Awards in January 2011 as well as Brooklyn Decker at the "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty" Costume Institute Gala in May 2011.
It's clear why celebs love the neon; it is a guaranteed way to be center of attention and truly pop on the red carpet!
There are many different ways to work the neon so that it's not overpowering. As Zoe Saldana showed us at The Children's Defense Fund's Awards, a nice detail like neon bold stripes will suffice. Saldana incorporates the trend by wearing a black and white skirt decorated with four bright pink horizontal stripes.
Now that summer's around the corner, music festivals and outdoor concerts are on the forefront of everyone's minds. Whether it's Coachella or a concert on the sandy beaches, neon accessories like bracelets, small clutches, or headbands are a must! What better way to get into the craze then adorn yourself in these fun pieces?
Celebrity fashion designer (and soon to be mom!), Jessica Simpson, loves the neon trend so much that she integrated the colors into her very own fashion lines for this season. Simpson infused bright blues, oranges, yellows and pinks into many of her pieces while her new handbags and wallets are outlined with bright blocks of bold color. She didn't forget about your feet, either! Simpson's spring shoe collection is filled with cut out high heels with bright blocks of color that will be sure to draw attention to your perfect pedicure!
To complete your neon trendiness, paint those nails! Colorful nails have always been popular for the warm months of the year, but the polish has become even brighter and edgier. Extremely bold shades of orange, pink, yellow or green will keep you on trend if wearing a highlighter yellow skirt is a bit too intense for your taste. Katy Perry, Britney Spears and Rihanna all love the neon polish.
