Working with the Biebs? Cool. Hearing the crowd go crazy chanting her name before her performance at Universal CityWalk? Super-cool. But the coolest thing about the irresistibly catchy 'Call Me Maybe' getting stuck in the heads of an international audience (it has already scored the No. 1 single spot in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK)?
"The 'Call Me Maybe' covers are probably the best part of all of this," Carly Rae Jepsen revealed before jumping on stage to perform it. We're totally hooked, too (Check out the latest, from Katy Perry and pals, shot at Coachella).
How did the pick-up song that's inspiring an awesome collection of covers come about? "It kind of started as this love song," says Carly. "And it turned out to be a pick-up song. It's just about trying to get some guy's attention and hoping that it works and kind of failing miserably." Hard to believe Carly has much experience with that.
But she can relate to the excitement of the crowd cheering her on on this clip. When it really hit her that Justin Bieber and his manager Scooter Braun wanted to work with her, "I think I screamed like a 13-year-old girl," says Carly.
