True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) has a new title...and a new man! But her friends are in trouble as the humans' war against the vampires escalates.
True Blood's Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) is living every little girl's dream. She's a fairy princess! OK, hers isn't exactly a Disney story (her version of the Beauty and the Beast tale is a tad literal, considering her romances with vampires and a werewolf), and her villains are serial killers and supes instead of evil queens with a thing for apples. Something tells us that Sookie's new title won't be followed by birds circling around her head and singing a merry tune.
Where's Warlow? OK, OK, Niall (Rutger Hauer) is not Warlow. Whatever you say, Grandpa. In fact, he insists he's been tracking Warlow--as Jason (Ryan Kwanten) puts it, like "intergalactic bounty hunter Boba Fett"--to Bon Temps. He also explains that Mr. W is trying to bust out from the dark realm where Sookie's mom banished him when he massacred their family. Their royal family, with Gramps as the reigning king of the bloodline (which Jason doesn't share). Anyway, says Sookie's light is "more powerful than the sun," and when it goes supernova, she can kill any vampire-but afterward become as mortal as her brother.
You Light Up My Life: Move over, Bill, Eric and Alcide: There's a new man in town, and he is turning on Sookie. Literally: Her hand lights up as she's nursing the fellow halfling's injuries. Ben (Rob Kazinsky), it turns out, was attacked by a vampire, and Sookie can't resist her instinct to help him like all her other supernatural strays. But at least she's able resist his advances-for now-and directs him to find safety (and burlesque performances) at the fairy club.
Magic Bullet: The humans have a secret weapon in their war against the vampires: a silver bullet that emits UV light. And this infuriates Eric (Alexander Skarsgård)-and pleases us because there's nothing sexier than an angry Swedish vampire. But the humans have another trick up their sleeve: protective contact lenses that prevent the vamps from glamourizing them. (Which Eric discovers after posing as an adorkable conservationist.) But the governor's daughter (and secret super sympathizer) finds Eric outside her window (No. 2 in the list of dreams come true) after she's removed her contacts-and invites him in.
God Is God: Not Bill (Stephen Moyer), as the über-vamp learns from Lilith in Fantasy Land. (Or whatever their trippy meeting place happens to be.) His new superpowers also have an unfortunate side effect: He feels the pain of all the persecuted vampires. And considering that the humans' attacks, a sledgehammer metaphor for our country's sordid history of racism, a few ibuprofen are not going to do the trick. Even worse, he sees (he's psychic now too) a terrible fate for his kind, rivaling a World War II death camp.
Ruff Times: Grieving over Luna's death, Sam (Sam Trammell) is interested when the cofounder of the Vampire Unity Society asks him to join their cause by coming out of the closet as a shapeshifter. Besides, he's Little Orphan Emma to care for. Her grandma has other ideas, and when Sam refuses to hand over custody, Alcide's (Joe Manganiello) wolfpack kidnaps (dognaps?) her. To quote another TV canine, ruh-roh.
