Kanye West's new song "On Sight" has an extremely offensive lyric in it, which seems to mock people suffering from Parkinson's Disease. Did Kanye take it too far this time?From interrupting Taylor Swift during her VMA acceptance speech, to blurting out "George Bush doesn't care about black people" during a Hurricane Katrina benefit, Kanye West always seems to find himself at the center of some sort of controversy.Now, the new dad, whose girlfriend Kim Kardashian gave birth to their daughter on June 15, finds himself in some serious hot water yet again.
In Kanye's new song "On Sight," he sings, ""A monster about to come alive again / Soon as I pull up and park the Benz / We get this b*tch shaking like Parkinson's."
Whoa! Talk about offensive...
We spoke with Kathryn Whitford, the Vice President of the American Parkinson Disease Association, who told us that the lyric is a "distasteful product of ignorance by someone that obviously doesn't know about the disease," explaining that not everyone with Parkinson's even exhibits that particular symptom.
When we asked if they were going to take legal action against Kanye, she said "no" and acknowledged that everyone has the right to say what they want to say. She noted that the organization is simply speaking out in defense of those afflicted and their families because they are already dealing with enough and such an insult is obviously hurtful to them.
Kathryn also noted that this unfortunately isn't the first time they've dealt with something like this, citing the time conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Michael J. Fox was faking his symptoms.
Obviously, everyone does have a right to free speech, but do you think Kanye took it too far this time?
