The dynamic father son duo share how they got to work together on their latest project, filming in Costa Rica and the worst scene they had to shoot!Is Will Smith the coolest dad ever?He wrote the starring role in his new movie After Earth specifically for his son Jaden!
"I was in China and we were working on The Karate Kid, just watching Jaden and Jackie [Chan] interact," Will explained. "And I was like, 'Man, he's having a lot of fun with my kid! I wanna have fun with him like that.' And I started thinking about something that Jaden and I could do together and After Earth came out of it."
Jaden appreciated the chance getting to play Kitai, the leading role in the sci-fi movie. "I feel like that's really cool that my dad gave me that shot, because he wrote it," Jaden shared. "If he wanted to be the star, he would have wrote his character as the star but the fact that he wrote that for me; it really meant a lot."
But it wasn't all fun and games on set for the father son duo in Costa Rica. "My least favorite scene to shoot was the scene on the log because it's emotional and I don't feel like yelling at my dad," he said. Aww!
