Brittany and Sam on GleeFox

Glee returned with an all new episode and literally with a bang.

As promised by show creator Ryan Murphy in a tweet last week, Glee's "Shooting Star" episode was "powerful" as the show took on the topic of gun violence in schools.

As the Glee students were starting to rehearse for regionals, gunshots rang out. The students and Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) were trapped in the choir room scrambling for safety, living what they thought would be their last moments, sending texts and filming goodbye videos for their loved ones. With tension all around, Schuester fought Sam (Chord Overstreet) from leaving to find Brittany (Heather Morris), who was hiding with classmates in the bathroom.

While students were trying to call parents and friends, Ryder (Blake Jenner), who learned he was catfished by Katie, called the fake Katie's phone which rang in a backpack in the choir room. He was forced to hang up his phone before we learned who the real Katie is, so the shooter wouldn't hear the ringing.

Who was the shooter? Coach Sue (Jane Lynch) confessed to the Principal Figgins that she had purchased a gun for self-defense and accidentally shot it while cleaning it. But then we learned (in a brilliantly surprising plot twist) that Sue was actually protecting Becky (Lauren Potter), her loyal student sidekick.

"I was scared coach, about graduating, being out in the world. With no one to protect me," Becky, who has Down syndrome, said as she showed Sue a gun she had brought to school. "I wanted to be prepared and protect myself. I need help."

As Sue tried to convince her to hand over the firearm, Becky accidentally shot the gun twice. Sue took the blame paid the price, losing her job at McKinley High.

(Not surprisingly, the episode generated a ton of controversy. You won't want to miss this HuffingtonPost interview with Lauren about her loudly debated storyline.)

Is this really the end of Sue Sylvester?

Stay tuned...
