On Friday, the network announced that actress and co-host of The View, Raven-Symone, will guest star on K.C. Undercover for the series' Sept. 7 episode. According to Variety, Raven will appear alongside the show's leading lady Zendaya in an hour-long special as Simone Devereaux, a computer engineer and ex-spy who sets out to track down a robot that falls into the wrong hands.
This appearance marks Raven's first return to the Disney Channel since starring in the popular series That's So Raven, which ended in 2007. A few months prior, the actress posted a photo from the K.C. Undercover set in which she and Zendaya sported some pretty gnarly makeovers.
In recent months, Raven has received plenty of criticism for her outspokenness on various issues, including her refusal to be labeled as gay or African-American and her dismissal of the fallout surrounding Ariana Grande's #Donutgate as much ado about nothing. During a segment on the July 27 episode of The View, she ruffled feathers when she declared Caitlyn Jenner's activism for the LGBTQ community was "too much, too soon."
Seeing Raven return to her Disney roots will definitely make for a memorable old school-meets-new school TV moment, specifically for fans she gained during her successful run on the network. But it does feel like kind of an unexpected move for the actress, especially because her post-Disney career couldn't be further away from the light-hearted nature of the family-friendly network.
