I thought that I was obsessed with nail art, but this new nail art trend might be a little cray even for me. Forget polka dots, stripes, and glitter: the next nail trend is getting three-dimensional. "Bubble nails," (sometimes referred to as "hump nails") are officially A Thing, and if you're dying to take your nail art up a notch, you might want to check it out.
Bubble nails refer to nails that appear to be domed, rather than flat. You can get the look by layering acrylic on each nail to form a small "bubble," which would then dry into your 3D nail art. The finished product sort of looks like what might happen if you stuck a tiny ball onto each one of your nails and then painted over them. It's certainly an interesting look, but not everyone agrees that it's worth it. Some nail art enthusiasts are giving bubble nails two painted thumbs down:
I'll be honest: I'm not the biggest fan in the world, either, and it's not just about how it looks. (Though I have to say - not totally loving it.) Truth be told, this nail trend seems like a huge hassle. I can only imagine the struggles of holding an eyeliner pencil or zipping up your jeans with these extreme acrylics on your tips, not to mention the pain associated with filing off the acrylics once you are ready for the next trend.
I appreciate anyone who wants to try something new, but I don't think I'll be trading in my Sally Hansen nail strips for dome-shaped nails any time soon. I prefer a low-maintenance nail, and bubble nails are so not that.
