I am ashamed to admit this as a Californian living through one of the worst droughts in the state's recent history, but in the spirit of honesty I should spill that I am a huge fan of long, hot showers. I'm all about fancy body washes, exfoliating scrubs, and conditioners that take a good five minutes to set in. Apparently I'm not alone, because artist Elisabeth Buecher just created a brilliant new shower curtain that could help curb long showers - and you'll never believe what it does.

Elisabeth's concern for water conservation gave her the idea to create a curtain that will encourage users to get out of the shower and towel off. How? By having the shower curtain inflate so that there is no longer any room at all underneath the shower. One design features a shower with inflatable "spikes" that will physically push you away from the water after four minutes. Check out the crazy prototype below:

Elisabeth's hilarious (and smart) design isn't actually for sale - Elisabeth created it to spark a discussion about our water usage. So far, it's working: Elisabeth's design has reminded me to put down the body scrub and start turning off the water when I put on a hair mask - we all need to be better about saving those drops.
