Comic-Con International 2015 -
This season, lots of our fave celebs have taken the light-haired plunge - Zayn Malik, Bella Thorne - and it has us itching for some sunkissed strands ourselves. Of course, these stars have expert styling teams helping them make the switch, so we decided to chat with an expert on how to get just the right natural-looking blond hue.

Colorist Haley Ozell of Brooklyn's Roots Radicals salon, who trained under celebrity hairstylist Marie Robinson, tipped us off on how to go blonde while keeping your locks looking effortless and organic.

CAMBIO: There is a rainbow of blond shades! How do I know which is right for me?
HALEY OZELL: When it comes to picking the shade and tone of your blonde, always consider skin tone. If you are fair and have pink undertones, try for a creamy pale blonde. For olive undertones, you should should stay sandy. Not too cool, but not too warm. And if you tend to have more red in your skin, buttery tones are the way to go. Another thing to keep in mind is if your hair is a medium brown or darker, I would suggest keeping depth at your root to keep it more on the natural side. It's much easier to maintain and is a softer look.

OK, so I'm a little strapped for cash. How can I lighten my look without spending a fortune?
A few subtle balayage highlights around your face and some end pieces will brighten you up and keep your hair looking natural and sunkissed.

I really like DIY projects. Can I do it myself?
Going lighter is very easy for some. A little lemon juice combed though before a day in the sun is all they need. For most, it can be pretty tricky. John Frieda has a great line called Sheer Blonde with a Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray and a Go Blonder Lightening Shampoo. It's very affordable and gentle on the hair. It works gradually to ease you into your brighter summer look. Whatever method you choose to go with just make sure you do as much research as you can. YouTube tutorials and DIY blogs can be amazing - that's my favorite way to go.

A lot of celebrities have made the switch to blond recently. Whose looks are your favorite and why?
My favorite celebrity that makes the switch so smoothly and so often is Emma Stone. The transition from fiery reds to cool sandy blonde is effortless and always looks great. I also think Sienna Miller and Michelle Williams are always a different shade and style every time you see them, and it looks so flawless in any shade.

What other color trends are you playing with this summer?
Pastels and rainbow hair!! It is everywhere and is an easy way to totally change your look. The lighter your hair, the more fun you can have with it, but even if you are on the darker end of blonde or even light brunette, you still have a lot of options. This is also something you can do at home. It's affordable, temporary and so, so fun!

There you have it - a natural way to go blonde without streaky highlights. Excuse us while we dip out to the salon.
