Kelly Clarkson has been so blessed in her own life that she can't help but come to the aid of others.The American Idol alum talked to People about why it's important to her to give back, saying, "I'm considerably blessed in my life. I came from nothing, and my life took a whirlwind change overnight."
"My life couldn't be any better," she continued. "But you just pause and go, 'Why wouldn't you want to give back? Why wouldn't you want to help out when you have so much spotlight to share?'"
Kelly does just that by working with Musicians On Call, an organization whose volunteers entertain hospital patients with music and lift their spirits.
"Music has such an influence on our emotions, and it aids in recovery. It's kind of a healthy little elixir for everyone," the "Heartbeat Song" crooner added. "And I can relate to it: I was very much an outsider as a kid, and music kind of saved me."Kelly also recently hosted Miracle on Broadway in December, which raised $400,000 for local charities via her Fruition Fund.
