Before they went public with their romance last summer, Ian and Nikki had been friends for a long time, even going on double dates together back when the actor was in a relationship with Nina Dobrev and Nikki was still married to Paul.
A source told E! News, Ian and Nikki have "been in love with each other for years," but were just friends before getting romantic. The duo went on to spark romance rumors when they were spotted canoodling at a local farmer's market in July."They're so happy," the source continued. "They were crazy happy from the start.
