Unfortunately, for fans watching Idina's New Year's Rockin' Eve performance, they wanted it to sound just like it did on the Frozen soundtrack, which is pretty much impossible - unless of course, she lip-synced - and she obviously didn't, so let's just be grateful for the fact that she brought it for real.
After people heard the performance, they immediately jumped on Twitter and let their 140 characters of criticism fly. Naturally, there were a whole bunch of Adele Dazeem references.
Idina Menzel was kidnapped by Adele Dazeem. That's why the Let It Go performance was so, "yeeeesh". #AdeleDazeem

They booked Idina Menzel, but got Adele Dazeem.

That wasn't @idinamenzel singing. That was her evil twin Adele Dazeem. #NewYearsRockinEve

The good news is that plenty of people came to
To all you haters of @idinamenzel i like to see you try to hit that high note in 30 degrees Fahrenheit weather

I don't care what ppl say; @idinamenzel was awesome. Hitting a sour note is just proof you're brave enough to SING LIVE. #NYRE

i can't say anything about the end of idina menzel's performance bc i'd sound like a dying whale if i tried to sing that note

. @idinamenzel can butcher any note in any song and still sing better than just about anyone. #getoverit #shush #nye
