Sometimes, things start trending on Twitter that are completely random and often times untrue. There have been tons of celebrity death hoaxes and other similar stories that get a catchy hashtag and take off like wildfire.When we started seeing #GetWellSoonAvril and #PrayforAvril popping up on Twitter, we figured it was probably just another one of those situations. Unfortunately in this case, it's not.
A fan account tweeted out both of those hashtags together and Avril Lavigne replied with a simple "thank you." The same account posted these two screenshots of their DMs with Avril, where she asked the person to keep her in their prayers.
Avril's rep confirmed to Billboard that the exchange was authentic and Avril's account had not been hacked. "The health issue could not be specified but it was confirmed that Lavigne is not pregnant, as some have speculated," the site reported, after they spoke with the rep.
We are sending tons of good thoughts and well-wishes in Avril's direction and we hope that whatever it is, isn't too serious. Get well soon, Avril!
