Halle Berry and her ex, French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, have been arguing back and forth over daughter Nahla, who's now 6 years old, ever since their split in 2010. So it's not like they were going to let a little thing like Thanksgiving week stop them from settling their latest issue before a judge.According to TMZ, Halle took Gabriel, with whom she shares joint custody of Nahla, to court Monday because she was furious that he had their baby girl's naturally curly hair straightened and highlighted.
Yikes. Can you imagine your little one returning home with drastically different hair? Hair is a big deal to a lot of women - so is their children. So when you mess with the strands on their kid's head, watch out!
The actress is apparently convinced that Gabriel wants Nahla to appear less African American.
Halle, who is the product of a biracial relationship (her mother is white and her father is black), famously told Ebony magazine in 2011 that she identifies as black and sees her daughter the same way.
After a lot of arguing, the judge ruled that neither parent could change Nahla's hair from its natural state.
We're glad this matter is settled. It's a vast improvement from what went down this time two years ago when Gabriel dropped Nahla off for the holiday and proceeded to get into a physical altercation with Halle's then-fiancé, French actor Olivier Martinez. The model's face was left battered after the fight.
Halle and Olivier got married a few months later in July 2013 and welcomed son, Maceo, that October.
Hopefully, everyone can go back to focusing on giving Nahla all their love and support, which is most important.
