Carrie Underwood and her hubby Mike Fisher chose to go a different route when it came to finding out the sex of their baby.Rather than receiving the exciting news in a doctor's office, the couple asked their doctor to write the gender of the baby down on a slip of paper and put it in an envelope. Then, Carrie and Mike went out to a fancy restaurant to celebrate and opened it up there.
"Just the two of us in a nicer setting, but we both knew," Carrie told ABC News Radio. "So, that was just confirming our suspicions. We didn't really speak of it before, 'cause we were both just like, 'Whatever. It's all good.' But we knew it was a boy."
Carrie shared the news with fans at the CMAs, where her cohost Brad Paisley pretended to let it slip while they were on stage Nov. 5. During a bit, he begged Carrie to tell him if she's expecting a boy or girl, Carrie whispered in his ear and Brad said, "I know something you all don't know. Suck it TMZ!." Making it clear she's expecting a boy, he added, "Hey, we could name him Garth.""Brad's got loose lips," Carrie told ABC. "He's a blabbermouth! So, I was like, 'I'm not gonna tell you until we're ready for the rest of the world to know, 'cause I know you'll tell people.'"
The mom-to-be first told fans she was expecting back in September, when she posted a photo of herself cradling her two pups wearing "big brother" and "big sister" outfits. "In honor of 'Labor' Day, Ace & Penny would like to make an announcement. Their parents couldn't be happier..."
This is the first child for Carrie and Mike, who tied the knot in 2010.
