Louis Tomlinson had a bit of a rant the other day about an article published about him that made note of him wearing a rainbow Apple logo t-shirt that seemed to be in support of Apple CEO Tim Cook recently coming out. Louis slammed the writer on Twitter, calling the article "rubbish" and confirming for anyone wondering, "I am in fact straight."Here's the thing - while the t-shirt he was wearing didn't appear to be an LGBT statement of support (Louis is right, Google it and you'll see it's just a vintage logo), he seemed to read between the lines that the writer was calling the One Direction singer gay.
Now she's firing back, defending the piece she wrote and possibly knocking him down a peg. Jenn Selby of The Independent tweeted: "Hi @Louis_Tomlinson thank you for your tweet. I'm sorry you found our article in any way insulting...At no point did we insinuate anything about your sexuality or mention your relationship, and nor would we..."
She added, "We were merely speculating as to whether you'd shown your support to a brave man facing some persecution...For his decision to come out in public recently. I'd like to remind my readers...That being called 'gay' should never be insulting & that standing up for #LGBT rights is an admirable thing to do..."
Jenn also addressed the angry mob of Directioners that got involved, writing: "I'd also like to remind Directioners that calling a woman a 'bitch' is never OK - and neither are death threats..."
Finally, she praised the supportive 1D fans, tweeting: "And to thank those Rainbow Directioners who have tweeted it for their support. It is much appreciated."
