Our favorite ginger singer just proved he's that guy every girl dreams of when he accepted a terminally ill superfan's marriage proposal.Known as the guy that has people propose at his shows all the time, it was quite the surprise when the table turned and Ed was the one being asked to get hitched. The adorable moment went down backstage at his gig in Glasgow when he met one of his fans, 19-year-old Katie Papworth, who is currently suffering from cancer.
During their meeting, Katie wore a "Mrs. Ed Sheeran" T-shirt, and gave him a ring. He accepted it as she asked if she could be Mrs Sheeran. She also gave the singer a picture she painted of a Lego house, in tribute to his hit song.
Ed signed a copy of the pic she made to keep for herself, writing, "Dear Katie, lovely to finally meet my wife." Like it would any huge Ed fan, that gesture made Katie's life.
In an interview shortly after the meeting Katie's mom said, "Katie took the picture of the lego house she'd made and gave Ed a ring with an infinity symbol. Ed loved her artwork and asked if he could keep it for his wall."
"When she presented the ring he smiled and said, 'I suppose I should say yes. OK.' He made it really special for her and she's since said she needs to think about bridesmaids."
"We haven't set the date yet, but it's not official because we haven't been in a church," Katie said about the whole ordeal.
Katie was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2006, but she went into remission for five years. Three years ago, the cancer returned to her spine.
