According to a new infographic published on Visual.ly, the average American consumes 3.4 POUNDS of candy at Halloween (granted, that probably includes the "leftovers" we eat after the big night).
And it's a good thing kids don't worry about calories as much as adults do, because they'll consume an average of 7,000 calories for Halloween, the equivalent of eating 13 McDonald's Big Macs. Hey, when you put it that way, we kinda want to go halfsies and do 6.5 Big Macs and 3,500 candy calories.
Either way, it would apparently take 180 miles of trick-or-treating (or 60 hours) to burn off that many calories, which is way too much work. We'll just let our pants fit a little tight for the next few weeks and trust that our body will give us a one-time pass for that one.
If you've still got some candy laying around and you want to indulge, but don't want to overdo it, they also have this depressing guide to the amount of calories in each kind of candy.
As for us, we're huge fans of chocolate (in any form!), we probably ate more than the average American and we regret nothing!
