In case you missed it, VH1's fifth annual Streamy Awards went down Thursday night, with YouTube stars like
Gigi Gorgeous,
Cameron Dallas and
Flula taking home the awards for Beauty, Entertainer of the Year and Comedy, respectively.
We were right in the audience as the show kicked off - and at the pre-show reception - getting all the scoop on what you probably missed if you watched from home. Take a peek at all of our observations from the celebration of online video's biggest and most influential creators!
Hanging Out at the Pre-Show
The Scene: As guests and nominees headed into the pre-show reception, they were treated to a hosted bar, complete with signature "Grace" (vodka, cranberry and Triple Sec) and "Tyler" (ginger ale, grenadine and cherry) cocktails in honor of the show's hosts,
Grace Helbig and
Tyler Oakley.
There was a
lot going on at the reception, aside from guests mixing, mingling and munching on grilled cheese sandwiches, shrimp, and mushroom flatbreads. While selfie sticks have been banned at most events, people definitely had them here. There were even a few people live broadcasting the reception using their selfie sticks. After a while, this is basically what the reception looked like...

Selfie sticks aside, one guy who attended the reception arrived with a fake pigeon on his shoulder...which was
kinda the best. He didn't explain why the pigeon was there, and the mystique of it all actually made it even more intriguing. Almost everyone there took a pic of or with him. We couldn't resist either (that hand pose though LOLz).
Also adding to the entertainment at the pre-show were three highly energetic people dressed up as fruit, who were promoting FNV, a campaign to sell fruits and vegetables to teens and moms. "Veggies are in, veggies are cool," the banana told us while bouncing around. "So
peas eat your veggies," the strawberry said. They kept bouncing around, so we felt like a dance off was in order. They obliged. Honestly, it really doesn't get better than watching three pieces of fruit doing the Whip and Nae Nae.
Before that was over we caught up with
Rhett from
Rhett and Link who was nominated for Show of the Year and Comedy. "It feels great, but I don't think we're going to win," he told us about their nominations with a laugh. "But, we already one won for nonfiction show so we're happy. The pressure is off." As for any Advice he would give anyone else who wants to be a YouTube star, he said with a smile, "Don't try it, we don't need the competition." Um...
We also caught up with Gigi Gorgeous who slayed in a red lace dress. Our girl walked into the room with her boo on her arm and owned it. After taking a couple of pics with friends, and hitting a fierce pose for us she went inside.
Star presenters and performers like
Ciara and
Hailee Steinfeld, skipped the reception, but
Shay Mitchell did pop up to grab a drink before the show and snap a selfie with a fan. Once the show began and guests took their seats, the audience warm up host asked
Frankie Grande if he was ready for the show, and Frankie hit the stage, gave a shimmy and said "I'm so f**king ready." And it began...
Time for the Show...
During the show, Hailee hit the stage for her first
live ever performance of "Love Myself" and killed it in knee high boots and a body hugging black mini dress. She looked really comfortable on stage. Meanwhile,
Ciara gave everyone their lives when she stepped on stage with
Michelle Phan to present an award in a black dress with a thigh-high slit and cut-outs along the side.
We couldn't help but wonder what her ex-fiancé
Future thought about how hot she looked, considering he performed about 30 minutes after she was on stage. When he did, he was surrounded by fire that was so intense you could feel the heat in the audience, but Ciara was nowhere to be found to give a reaction.
When Gigi won her award for Beauty, she strutted up to the podium to accept it. "Omg what the heck," she said. "Thank you everyone at home. Everyone who has ever told me I've been the light at the end of their tunnel they've been the light at the end of mine. Stay gorgeous." Then she sauntered down the stairs to after taking a pic with Frankie.
During the commercial breaks, attendees got up, walked around, mixed and mingled. When
Kat Graham and
Andrew B. Bachelor introduced the Viner of the Year award though, which went to
King Bach, people forgot to stop talking and mingling. Even after Andrew said "shh" to the audience, they still kept talking.
OMI was on hand to perform "Cheerleader" too, and
Little Big World also performed. People were given glow sticks to wave around during LBW's performance and most people who got them were quickly over it. Someone used one as a back scratcher instead of waving it around, for example.
To wrap up the show, the hosts kept teasing that there was a huge surprise performance on the way. We thought...who could it be?
Rihanna?
Taylor Swift? Nope...it was none other than
Sir Mix-a-lot kicking "them nasty thoughts" with "Baby Got Back." Still, people loved it. The audience was on their feet and some even twerked during the performance.
After the Show, it's the After Party
At the after party at the W Hollywood rooftop, guests were treated to another open bar and more munchies by the pool. There were mini crab cakes, beef sliders and crispy chicken bites, and there was also a photo/video booth where guests could throw up confetti for snaps.
