Khloe Kardashian is under fire with some of her fans after posting a controversial snap on Instagram during her trip to Dubai.
In the selfie the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star posted Tuesday, she can be seen wearing a niqab, which covers the face as a part of sartorial hijab (a veil that covers the head and chest). While some Muslim women wear traditional niqabs in public, it isn't required. "Habibi Love," Khloe captioned the shot.
"Gotta unfollow," one commenter wrote after seeing the pic, while another posted, "My religion is not for sale for media attention." Another wrote, "Why do an episode about how you didn't mean to disrespect a certain religion and then do it again?"
What the latter commenter is referring to is an Instagram post that caused some drama last October, when Khloe put up a shot of herself in a lace face mask posing next to Scott Disick and their friend Chris Reda who were both dressed in traditional Arabian clothing for Halloween.
In spite of the criticism she received this go round, there were also fans who praised the photo of her in a niqab. One commenter wrote, "She is in a muslim country. She is respecting and embracing Saudi culture while most of the media and people of influence do not have good things to say about Islam. As a muslim, it's sad how closed minded my own people can be yet we are victims of the same thing."
"Love it, so beautiful," another commenter said, while another wrote, "I am Muslim and she looks amazing."
