It's a tough year to be a cheerleader.

Just a week after an Ohio State football team trampled one, Will Ferrell socked a cheerleader in the face in the middle of the New Orleans Pelicans-Los Angeles Lakers game Wednesday night.

Fans got quite the surprise when the Anchorman star popped up during halftime and tried to shoot a half-court shot. As the cheerleaders lined up around him to cheer him on, he threw the basketball and nailed one of them with it, instead of sinking it into the hoop.

The smack-down was so hard that it knocked the cheerleader right off her feet and to the floor, with her shocked squad rushing to her side to help her back up. Rather than going to see if she was okay, Will walked away and got escorted out of the stadium by security.



Thankfully, this incident was just a rouse. Will was on hand to film the stunt for his upcoming comedy flick, Daddy's Home, which also stars Mark Wahlberg.

In the movie, Will plays a mild-mannered radio executive who is determined to be the best stepdad possible to the children of his new wife, according to the Hollywood Reporter. That plan goes awry when the kids' "freewheeling and freeloading" biological father returns and forces Will's character to compete for their affection.

This is such a bummer...less than a month after going public on Instagram and sharing super adorable selfies and videos, Sam Smith and his boyfriend Jonathan Zeizel have already broken up!

Sam seemed to confirm the sad news himself during his concert in Toronto Tuesday night before performing "Like I Can." "This song is very special to me today," he told the audience. "It's because I've actually had to do a very similar thing today with someone I've been seeing."

The "Stay With Me" singer, who met his model beau when he was an extra on set of his music video, has also been sharing glum Instagram posts too.

Sometimes you just need to lay in bed with a glass of red wine and a football T shirt and listen to Joni Mitchell. It's been a sad day. Beautiful show, but sad day x

We know Lady Gaga is working on new music, she's been posting all kinds of cool pics of herself at the piano, writing music on the couch and hanging in the studio with RedOne.

As for Adele, she is rumored to be releasing an album later this year, which would mean she's probably in production right now.

When Gaga posted this pic with the "Someone Like You" singer, the speculation ran wild. Gaga played coy about it in the caption, simply writing, "Nothing like a Wednesday night bro-down with the beautiful Adele."

Maybe we're being a bit too optimistic, but the timing seems about right for both girls AND Adele is holding her computer, so maybe...just maybe they WERE working on something.

Or maybe they were just checking Facebook and binging on Netflix...?

Lindsay Lohan is on the road to recovery after contracting a rare, incurable virus she reportedly picked up in Bora Bora while on vacation.

According to TMZ, the actress was released from King Edward VII's hospital in London Wednesday night after her "fever broke sufficiently," but she still has intense joint pain. Doctors referred her to a specialist.

Lindsay contracted Chikungunya, a virus transmitted by mosquito bites that not only causes joint pain, but also fatigue and fever. She revealed to fans right before the new year that she had the illness, tweeting this message Dec. 27.:

After spending some time in Bora Bora during the holidays, the Mean Girls star flew to Los Angeles to shoot an Esurance commercial. Although she had been complaining about the illness before New Year's, she got so sick that she couldn't walk when she went back to London.

According to the World Health Organization, most people who contract the illness recover fully, but the joint pain could persist for several months or even years.

Uh-oh. It looks like Demi Lovato suffered the tiniest of wardrobe malfunctions when leaving pal Nick Jonas' "Jealous" Top 40 Radio party at The Ivy in Los Angeles earlier this week. No problem though - she was wearing underwear.

When Demi got into the car with boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama, cameras snapped a shot of her panties as she situated herself. Meh, we can think of worse wardrobe oops...it happens, we just don't usually have someone with a camera ready to point it up our skirt.

Liam Payne made fans proud of the One Direction star when he tweeted a plea to get others thinking about donating to charities.

Liam took to TwitLonger to get his thoughts all out there, using his celeb status to get people to take notice and start thinking about how they can make a difference.

It must have worked because the hashtag #LetsHelpLiamChangeTheWorld started trending, with many offering up ideas for raising money and helping the world be a better place.

And, in a hilariously sweet twist, it turns out Liam was just drunk tweeting, as he shared today: "Well that's quite possibly the nicest drunken tweet I've done aha what was going in in my head last night"

This kid is a natural!

Striking an adorable pose, 7-month-old Grace is all smiles in a photo that helped her beat out more than 180,000 other precious babies to take home the new Gerber baby crown.

In the snap submitted by her parents, the East Petersburg, Pennsylvania cutie rests her chin on her hands as she rests on a blanket.

"The photo that won was taken only 5 photos from when I started taking pictures of her that day," Gabrielle, Grace's mother, said in a press release, according to Us Weekly. "She must have taken her hands out of her mouth and posed them like that for a split second because I didn't even realize how cute she was posing until after I was completely done taking pictures and looking back at what I had just taken!"



"While many of the entry photos this year met our criteria, Grace's captivating charm stole the judges' hearts," Cassie Savage, Marketing Specialist at Gerber, added.

Little Grace also made her debut on the Today show Wednesday, where the baby girl kept flashing a smile and saying "da-da" as she looked at her dad off-camera.

Along with their daughter's title, Grace's parents will also receive a $50,000 prize, one year of Gerber baby food and the chance for Grace to appear in a future Gerber ad as the 2015 Spokesbaby.

Ellie Goulding sings a bit of a One Direction song in this Capital FM karaoke game video clip and we love her little fangirl freak out.

See? Celebs adore the 1D guys too.

Ellie was given some challenging tunes to tackle in this installment of Capital FM's Instaoke, including Katy Perry, Jennifer Lopez and One Direction.

Ellie took on "Jenny From the Block" and "I Kissed a Girl." When she found out she had gotten 1D's "What Makes You Beautiful," she understandably freaked out...then got to work singing a snippet.

At the end, she called Niall "a good friend," saying, "if I did it badly, he'd definitely have something to say about it," and apologized to the 1D star, saying, "Sorry Niall."

Sure, Kylie Jenner's got a busier schedule than most 17-year-olds, but has she really decided not to finish high school to focus on her hair extensions line? That's what Life & Style is reporting.

A source tells the tabloid that "Kylie quit homeschooling a few months ago. She told her mom it was getting 'in the way' of her career, and that she wanted to focus her energies on building her personal brand and making money."

They also report that Kris Jenner eventually "gave in," and that the momager believes "the girls are smart and saavy and don't need a piece of paper to show that." But GossipCop claims that the E! reality star hasn't quit school and has no plans to, saying she "has school and attends every day."

No comment from Kylie herself just yet, but we're glad she's staying in school!

Remember a few Keeping Up With The Kardashians seasons ago when everyone (including the fans) weren't sure what to make of Scott Disick? Well, he's come a long way since then and it's pretty safe to say we're all obsessed with Scott.

Kourtney Kardashian's man had an uphill battle, but in addition to winning our hearts, he's also won over the Kardashian/Jenner crew - even Khloe Kardashian, who probably disliked him the most.

He's also been spending a lot of time with Kendall Jenner lately as the duo has been spotted out having lunch and now, apparently, they're shopping together. Hey, Lord Disick does have a really good sense of style and he seems super fun, so why not bring him along for a day at the mall?

Watch as this woman, upon the realization that she's missed her ferry to Vancouver Island on New Year's Eve, goes into a raging meltdown. Foot stomping, cursing, and a wailing pitch that only a dog can hear follows.

Just when you thought you had the coolest dorm room ever, this student totally blows your decor ideas out of the water. A student at Rice University in Houston, Texas has apparently filled his college room with balls.

Yep, David Nichol has decided to fill his dorm with plastic balls. You know, the kind in McDonalds' play areas?

"A lot of people are like why but then you think about it for a second, wait, no that just sounds awesome," he told KTLA. In order to get the job done, he moved his desk, dresser, and other items into a common space that he shares with his three roommates. He still has a set of drawers, next to his balls, for clothes.

So how much does swag like that cost? $500 for about 13,000 colorful, plastic balls. He must be one well-off college student!

Just like a typical play area, there are rules if you want to play in his. "No food or drinks, if you make out you get out and no peeing."

The best part about it all? The university apparently is aware of the ball pit, and is letting him keep it. Coolest school ever?

Internet and political history was made today. YouTube stars Hank Green, Bethany Mota and GloZell Green each got to sit down and talk with President Barack Obama for a special live stream event, "The YouTube Interview with President Obama," at The White House.

The prez discussed topics that particularly affect young people, including his goals of two years free community college and a higher minimum wage, plus the importance of a free, open Internet. He also answered questions regarding numerous topics from his State of the Union address earlier this week.

However, the interview wasn't all serious business. Bethany played a fun "lighting round" with the president, asking him questions submitted by her fans. Obama revealed he likes to watch SportsCenter in his free time, he wanted to be an architect growing up or an NBA player and if he could have one super power, it'd be to fly or be able to speak every language.

GloZell even gave Obama a special present, matching green lipstick for First Lady Michelle Obama and the first daughters. "I'm going to ask Michelle to try it on, maybe tonight," said Obama. LOL! Plus, he posed for a selfie with the group.

Definitely don't try this one at home. A girl apparently thought it would be a cute idea to twerk while hanging outside a moving car's door, and failed miserably. Surprised?

This 18-year-old Georgia woman thought it'd be a good idea to booty pop out of her pal's moving car. It didn't take long until she was shaking it straight into the ground.

The twerking wannabe is Brittany Symone. She was dancing to K Camp's "Lil Bit" when she bit it herself.

Don't worry, she wasn't injured during the mishap. The friend who taped the whole thing cleared that up when she posted an update on Vine.

Is that you Miley Cyrus? The twerking singer just posted another sexy photo on Instagram, and it's a lot more classy than that epic bathtub pic she released last week.

Miley shared a pic on Instagram showing off juicy red lips and hot cleavage. Surprisingly there wasn't a nip slip involved, too. She actually looked kind of classy in it.

After we looked at the photo, we noticed that it reminds us of Kim Kardashian's selfie book cover. Maybe Miley was mocking it?

Because we could all use another reason to tool around on the Internet, we give you the split-depth GIF.

This is not your typical GIF. As the name suggests, the variation involves using white lines to cut an animated loop into panels and allowing some visual elements to burst through for a cool 3D effect.

Before the Reddit community bites our head off, split-depth GIFs aren't exactly new (satisfied, Redditors?). BUT we - along with a heck of a lot of other people - discovered the Internet sensation just recently after one featuring a scene from 1995's Bad Boys starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence went viral.

It's definitely well-executed. In fact, we almost wanted to freeze and put our hands up except the urge to want to touch our computer screens was too overwhelming. Best part? You don't need special glasses.

Will Meghan Trainor and Nick Jonas be making a special appearance on the new season of The Voice?

All signs are pointing to yes. According to Us Weekly, the duo will head to the NBC singing competition as celebrity mentors when season eight kicks off next month, with Nick helping Team Christina Aguilera and Meghan assisting Team Blake Shelton.

Lionel Richie and Ellie Goulding will also reportedly be on hand, with Lionel helping handle Team Pharrell Williams and Ellie mentoring Team Adam Levine.

Although this will be the first time Ellie, Nick and Meghan have served as mentors on the show, the famed "All Night Long" crooner has done it before, helping out Team Christina in Season 2.

In addition to the show's new mentors, fans will see a slight difference in the coaches' chairs this season, as Gwen Stefani leaves the show and Christina returns to take her place.
