Taylor Swift Reveals Her Biggest Fears and They're Kind of Weird (WATCH)

Taylor SwiftTaylor Swift needs to lay off the Law & Order! The singer just revealed her biggest fears to Ellen DeGeneres, and lets just say murder has something to do with one of them.

While chatting it up at the talk show, Taylor revealed what her biggest fears are. Having another crappy boyfriend? Falling down on stage? Nope! Tay's biggest fears are sea urchins and being framed for murder. Seriously.

"If you knew what sea urchins were, you would be terrified of them!" Then Ellen chimed in, "The poor things are just minding their business," before Tay interjected, "No! They are not! That's the thing. They are like a grenade."

"You can't see a sea urchin," Taylor explained. "If you are in the Caribbean, you are like, 'This water is so beautiful. It's amazing.' You are are walking. It's clear water. You can't see a sea urchin is right there and then you step on one. It has barbs and it goes into whatever it touches. And you go to the emergency room and it has to be surgically removed." She added, "You can lose your foot, you can lose your hand, you can lose your hand trying to get it off of your foot. I don't like sea urchins."

Ellen then asked Taylor to explain her fear of being framed for a crime. "I think the dream and the nightmare of being framed comes from like... I could do nothing wrong. I could sit in my house with the cats all day and somehow there can be an article of me buying a house in a place I have never been or dating a guy I have never met. But then you take it a step further and, then in the nightmare world, it is being framed for murder," she said.

Check out what Ellen's hilarious response to that was below. Do sea urchins and the thought of getting framed for murder freak you out?

Startup Weekend!

This weekend me and two other Girls Who Code alumni had the opportunity to go to Hack the Central District's startup weekend in Seattle for building www.puplert.com, an app to help locate lost dogs.

To make this possible we went out and talked to lots of vets, pet shelters, and dog owners for customer validation to see if this was even a good idea. We had the opportunity to work with a front end developer and a back end developer who helped program the app and get it up and running.

We just had an amazing team to work with and we placed second! it was such an amazing experience, and it just goes to show that you're never too young to go to a startup weekend and you never know what you could build within 48 hours - so just try it out.

Below is a link to the album of our entire weekend at Hack the CD startup weekend:

Kalin and Myles Get "Stuck In" a Seriously Fun Cambio Q and A

(Editor's Note: Nikki, Natasha, Roxy, Lily and Michelle above from left to right with Kalin and Myles in the middle, are all Girls Who Code graduates who interned at Cambio this summer, helping to relaunch the site by building new features and putting their stamp on our content. They got to interview Kalin and Myles, along with other stars like Gregg Sulkin and Lindsey Stirling. Check out their Q&A with Kalin and Myles below.)

You may have heard Kalin and Myles' hit song "Love Robbery," but you might not know that Kalin "can't live without" his Air Jordan sneakers and Myles is a squeaker, plus totally obsessed with hair products. The hip hip duo stopped by Cambio to talk about how they started making music together, what inspires them and spill some secrets about themselves and each other, including what songs they sing in the shower.

Girls Who Code: Can you tell us the story of how you guys first became a duo?
Kalin: I'll bring it back to the first day we met. Myles was throwing a house party and one of our mutual friends brought myself and it was crazy. He tries to play it down like it was a little kickback, but the turn up was real. That's how we met and we became homies. It wasn't until a couple years later, like 2011, when we made our first song and it got a good reaction. We were like, "Okay, what else can we do?" and he was like, "Let's make another song," and I was like, "Alright, let's try it out since the first one was so much fun!" By the time we made our fifth song we started picking up group names. He was like, "What should our group name be?" and I was like, "I kind of like it just as our first names," and that was that. Then we started doing our first shows. We never considered ourselves an actual duo, we kind of just grew.

GWC: What's your favorite thing about each other?
Kalin: My favorite thing about my bandmember over here is that I feel like he's really talented. He picks up to things very fast and I think it's a great asset and a great ability of his to make beats because without creating home music neither of us would be at this spot.
Myles: I really like his sense of humor. I think I've laughed harder than I've ever laughed in my whole entire life with him, like the top five laughs ever.
Kalin: I'm staying humble, but sometimes there's so many random sounds that he makes.
GWC: Can you give us some examples of the random sounds that he makes?
Myles: Like I squeak sometimes and I don't know how it happens I just have a laugh attack.

GWC: What inspires you to write music?
Myles: Current situations in our lives, like with girls. Or things we feel like can relate to everyone else. Whatever energy we're into inspires our writing.

GWC: What inspired your song "Stuck in a Kodak?"
Myles: We just wrote from our heart. I start off with the line, "Just updates with no action." I feel like people can really caught up in social media and it's just hard for people to sometimes live in the moment. I just think life is too short to get wrapped up in any activity so it's just heavy on my heart.

GWC: Can you each tell me a weird fact about the other person?
Kalin: I don't think Myles will go anywhere without his hair gel. Like we had a really important meeting yesterday and we were late because he needed hair gel. He was like "I'm leaving." I was like, "Where are you going?" He was like, "Dude, I forgot my hair gel."
Myles: Hmm, I'm trying to think of one...
Kalin: Yeah, I'm pretty normal.
Myles: He eats a lot, which is weird.

GWC: Who are your idols?
Myles: I would say my dad. He put me onto a lot of game and a lot of wisdom growing up for sure.
Kalin: In the music game, I would have to say Chris Brown. When you listen to an artist over and over again and you don't get tired of their music, that's when you know it's real.

GWC: Where would you guys like to get in the future with your music?
Myles: I would say just being able to tour more and continuing to make music. We just have a lot of fun and thats a huge aspect of it. Producing, writing, performing. We just love performing and so any chance we get to be out somewhere and connect with the girls is awesome...and guys too, there some guys out there, too.

GWC: You guys recently went on tour. What was that experiencel like?
Myles: Yeah it was cool. We got to do a couple shows out in like Santa Anna; the girls over there bring a lot of energy. It's fun and always a good time.

GWC: Can you tell us about a favorite moment with a fan, or something that stood out to you?
Kalin: My favorite part about the whole music beautifulness is the crowd interaction, it could be one on one like if I was asking a fan how her day was or if I'm on stage it's like making conversation with our eyes, or stuff like that.
Myles: I think for me it's being able to talk to some of the girls or staying in touch with some of the girls we started with. Like there's a few girls that have been some real day-ones and so being able to check in with them is cool.
Kalin: We love them all though, like the new ones that come and yeah I love all the moments.

GWC: What are three things you can't live without?
Kalin: Unfortunately like right before I fall asleep and once I wake up I check my phone and that's just how society is these days so it'll have to be phone, food, and Jordans.
Myles: Phone, gel and computer.

GWC: What songs do you like to sing in the shower?
Myles: I sing "Favorite Girl" by Justin Bieber from the My World album which is probably one of my favorites.
Kalin: I have this little portable speaker that I use when I take a shower so I'm just singing whatever's on Pandora or my phone.

Kalin and Myles even taught our GWC Interns some of their sweet moves. Check out the video below.

Good morning/afternoon/evening everybody! I'm very excited about writing my first blog entry on the Cambio blog. This will be my first official blog entry ever(unless Tumblr counts). I'm pretty sure by now all of you will be in your second(?) month of the school year, so I want to offer you my congratulations!!!

Congratulations!!!

How has school been so far? I'm in my last year of senior high school (phew), which means I have to start preparing for college now. It's funny when I think of transitioning from high school to college because it feels like I'm going to become a freshman again. But I'm also pretty excited for the future. All my classmates are really great and I've made tons of new friends. But I will always remember my Girls Who Code :)

Every now and then I think to myself, "Oh, she would know how to do this" or "I bet she would have liked this." I hope all the girls from the program are having a great school year as well.

Honestly ever since graduating from the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion program I've become more outgoing and have even talked to some classmates I never would have talked to before. I've even taken charge of the homecoming decorations for my club. Guess what my school's homecoming theme is? SUPERHEROES AND VILLAINS!!! I am so incredibly excited for this theme because I can go all out on the decorations and costume.

I would also like to thank Cambio Built By Girls for giving me the opportunity to become a blogger. I will be a little shaky at first but I promise to try really hard for everybody, including myself. I'm also excited to write about topics like fashion, DIY, baking, anime, TV shows, Korean shows/music, anything at all.

For my next blog entry I plan on writing about clothes and fashion so stay tuned and don't hesitate to ask me advice on anything! See you soon~ :-D
Good Night Everybody

Teenage Girls Take Charge and Make a Change

Numerous studies have shown that the majority of users on the world's most popular social media sites like Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, and Instagram are females ages ranging from 13-17. In simpler terms, teenage girls run the internet.

In this day and age a huge part of how people think, act, and even communicate is impacted by social media. Social media sites allow their users to share opinions, spark ideas, and spread new trends. The fact that this huge demographic of users is full of teenage girls shows that a lot of these ideas, movements, etc. are coming from them. Although this is something that's often forgotten, it holds a lot of respect for teen girls that they do deserve. The way these girls work together and spread information can create a powerful force (and one not to be reckoned with if I might add) and really change the way people think about things. Who do you think created the strong and often times intimidating support behind some of the world's biggest bands recently? Who do you think sparked the movement to put an end to harassment videos on YouTube?

Girls all over the world are coming together to show people they can make a change. They're standing up for what they believe in and speaking out about topics that matter. They're building, writing, coding, creating apps, and taking ridiculous amounts of initiative to change the image of typical teenage girls. The teenage girl is evolving, and she's taking over.

The leaves are falling and changing color; there's a slight chill to the air. We're pulling out the sweaters and the the ringing of the school bells can be heard all around. That's right! It's fall again! But let's not forget about one of the best parts of this season: the food!

This year, make this season a tasty one with any one of these 7 great eats from all over New York City!

1. Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte!
Can we ever talk about the fall without talking about one of Starbucks most coveted seasonal drinks? The Pumpkin Spice Latte is a great way to ring in the season! Curl up on one of the cafe's couches with a good book and a Venti sized cup or have a quick get together with your best buds - whatever you choose to do, this burst of flavour is bound to make your day. With a bit of coffee, The Pumpkin Spice Latte will make waking up earlier to head off to school a lot easier.

2. Doughnuttery Cider Fritters! With a sweet deal at $6 for 6 mini donuts, these tiny treats are worth their weight in gold. Found in the heart of Chelsea Market, Doughnuttery specialises in scaled-down donuts that are almost too cute to eat. Grab a bag and share with friends but BEWARE: they go quickly! So snap a quick pic for instagram before taking a bite, it'll last longer!

3. Momofuku Milk Bar Crack Pie!
The Momofuku Crack Pie is honestly a little taste of heaven and is just what you need this fall. With a toasted oat crust , gooey butter filling, and the familiar taste of brown sugar, this unique concoction is just playful enough to keep the season feeling light! So pop into one of their cozy locations and have a bite for yourself.

4. Caramel Apple Pie with a Toasted Walnut Crumble from Good Enough to Eat!
Are you looking for a tasty twist to a old fall classic? Look no further than the Upper West Side's Good Enough to Eat. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner the restaurant is famous for it's amazing desserts, this one included. It's crunchy, sweet and familiar. What more could we ask for? Just looking at it makes my mouth water! It's a great way end to a hearty meal that'll keep you warm and happy whenever!

5. Pumpkin Flavoured Ice Cream from Morgenstern's!
With the chilly weather coming on a bit strong this year, you'll want to hop to it, when it comes to this fall treat. Sticking with traditions, Morgensterns has taken pumpkin and put it into a lovable ice -cream. Traditional and new, this is certainly a crowd-pleaser as a new way to enjoy a fall taste as old as time. Go now, while it's still reasonable to eat ice cream!

6. Ramen from Okonomi! A quirky Japanese restaurant in Williamsburg, Okonomi has no menu but does have phenomenal traditional food. Japanese is probably not the first thing you think of when I say Fall foods but after tasting the ramen from Okonomi you'll not be able to understand why you didn't think of it first. Ramen is such a staple of comfort food and with Okonomi at the helm, you'll make it your staple of fall foods too! It's great to curl up with a hot bowl of ramen in front of a fireplace watching the multicolored leaves fall. Why don't you try something this year?

7. Chili from Lucky 777 Chili!
Nothing says cool weather like chili and now you can get amazing Chili from Lucky 777 Chili. With large variety and myriad options when it comes to the ingredients of your chili, the possibilities are endless. You could have beef or pork or turkey. The spices and herbs are numerous and so are the feels. It's a perfect accent to a long day and just asks to be eaten while cozying up under a large blanket. The toppings are never ending, so what are you waiting for?!

That's all folks! Those are seven of my favourite fall eats. Why don't you go try some?! Comment below with some of your favourite fall foods!

Girls Who Code Run the World: Meet 18-Year-Old Roxy Banik

This "presented by" post is the first in our five-part Girls Who Code Run the World series - spotlighting young women who are helping redefine the way we think about women as builders.

This summer Cambio partnered with Girls Who Code, an innovative organization actively increasing the number of girls exposed to careers in the technology fields. Five graduates of the program are interning at Cambio, and they helped us relaunch the site - building new features and putting their stamp on the content - creating a destination that not only entertains but also empowers young women. We're thrilled to introduce you to these remarkable girls.

Roxy Banik, 18, from Queens, NY, has two older brothers, one in engineering and the other in finance, and she was always told that as girl she wasn't meant to enter those fields. But Roxy has never believed in gender-based boundaries. She discovered a passion for coding while messing around with a friend's Tumblr. She was thrilled to discover GWC, quickly built her first app and met other young women who inspire her to be anything she wants to be. Roxy was especially impressed by GWC's founder Reshma Saujani (more on Reshma below). Here, she talks about her experience interning at Cambio and creating a new product that will give girls a new way to empower each other.

Cambio: How did you find out about GWC?

Roxy: A friend told me about GWC, and as soon as I heard about all of the opportunities and everything that she learned during the program - she also told me that she made lifelong friends - I immediately signed up.

Cambio: Is it challenging for girls to get into coding?

Roxy: I think what's challenging for girls is that there just aren't enough women in STEM to serve as role models for young women.

Cambio: Tell us about the app you created as your final project at GWC.

Roxy: I developed a location-based mobile application that allows you to find the nearest bathroom and/or water fountain location in New York City. It's called "Let It Flow."

Cambio: What's your favorite thing about working at Cambio?

Roxy: We developed a contributor network, the Cambio Col[lab], and I think it's really exciting to create something where girls can share their stories and inspire one another. I don't know of any online forum that accomplishes that right now, so I think it's great that Cambio took on this project.

Cambio: Is that how you came up with your final project at GWC? By seeing a need?

Roxy: Yeah, because all you have to do is identify a problem and know that you're capable of solving it.

Cambio: What do you hope to achieve during your Cambio internship?

Roxy: I hope that I can become more comfortable leading a project.I've learned that there's so much that goes into executing your ideas effectively and making a product vision come true. I hope that I can just become more comfortable actually making that happen.

(Check out Roxy and her fellow interns' interview with violinist Linsdsey Stirling, third from left.)

Cambio: Which woman inspires you the most and why?

Roxy: Our GWC founder [Reshma Saujani] inspires me a lot, because she talks about how as a society we're so ashamed of failure, and I personally think that if you can become more comfortable failing, you're more likely to succeed and you can tackle anything that comes your way.

Cambio: What empowers you?

Roxy: What empowers me is sitting in a room full of women who believe that they can, because limits only exist if you create them in your mind.

Cambio: Who's your favorite celebrity?

Roxy: My favorite celebrity has to be Oprah, because she doesn't believe in limits and neither do I.

Cambio: What does #BUILTBYGIRLS mean to you?

Roxy: #BUILTBYGIRLS means that girls can inspire each other, because even if there aren't enough female role models yet, we can be role models to one another.

(See Roxy's first article on the Cambio Col[lab].)
Girls Who Code Interns - What Does #BUILTBYGIRLS Mean To You?

Who Am I?

$

0

Who are you?

The one question we all at some point in time dread answering. Not being able to know if what we identify ourselves with is the same as what other people may identify us with, but initially, it's what we feel comfortable associating ourselves with. Girls particularly, spend so much time in the mirror and at stores trying to fit the "ideal" image of how a girl is supposed to look, act, or dress. Yes, I plead guilty, I do this as well. I often find myself wishing I looked or dressed more like someone else. I am constantly pointing out my flaws and looking for ways to alter them in order for me to be "perfect".

With the media constantly in our ears, it's easy for us to feel bad about ourselves and question, well, who am I? And I must admit, even for me it wasn't easy to figure out who I truly was. I didn't know where to start. But finding out who you are goes much deeper than outside appearances, after-all, beauty is only skin deep. We all have reasons for being on this Earth, we just have to do some searching within. The first step to finding out who you are, is ignoring what other people use to define you. YOU define YOU!

Keep Calm - It's Only College!

If I have learned anything over this past year, it is to take life as it comes. Don't make yourself sick if your "plan" doesn't pan out the way you wanted it to, it's okay, we're teenagers! Life wouldn't be quite as fun without a little bump in the road every now and then... It is most crucial to remember this during the college application process. So remain calm, and enjoy the ups and downs of senior (or junior) year.

Ever since I was a little girl, I had my heart set on attending the illustrious University of Michigan. Although, my school of choice was based upon a plot in Sister, Sister - my favorite TV show as a kid, it was what I wanted most for myself. To obtain a degree then live life to the absolute fullest... I wanted to have it all. I wanted perfection. And as time went on, my dreams changed and well, life got in the way. I laugh thinking about how obsessed I was with attending school in Ann Arbor, as well as how my true dream school and UM are polar opposites. I realized that I needed a school that was smaller in size, and that I needed to be in a community filled with peers and educators that encourage me, lift me when I'm down and help me to grow as a young lady. I believe I found this in Spelman College.

While applying to schools is extremely time consuming and stressful, I find solace in knowing that come January 1st, I will most likely never have to do it ever again. The thought of that alone is enough to get me through long, tedious hours of studying for SATs and answering personal statements. I also thoroughly enjoy commiserating with my friends about how much pressure I'm under, and how stressed I am. Talking to someone who is going through the same phase in high school, you know... the "I can't wait to graduate, but I don't wanna grow up!" phase. It's so incredibly helpful.

I also find that in taking care of yourself, mentally, physically and emotionally it takes a little bit of the edge off. I, personally, love to take long walks, stretch, and spend hours on end on Netflix watching Gossip Girl and for me, it all helps to alleviate my stress. Hopefully this blog will provide some of you guys with a little insight.

So don't worry, it all comes full circle & don't forget - it's just college! In a year's time things will have worked themselves out and we'll all be where we're meant to be.

XO, Chelsea Wynter

Break Up With Stress

$

Stress Free With bundles of homework and long stressful nights, students often feel overwhelmed and dread the next day. But have no fear, Cambio Col[lab] is here!

1. Your goals are not impossible. "Nothing is impossible! The word itself says "I'm possible!" Although you may think it's impracticable and even if all the evidence reveals that it's impossible, you still can't be 100% sure unless you do one thing: try. Instead of having a to-do list, keep an "I accomplished list," or what I like to call a "yay list." It's not a list to flaunt to your friends, it's a simple way to reflect back on your accomplishments, and encourage yourself to keep doing what you're doing - because it's working. Here's a peek at my list:

October
-Taught my mom how use emojis
-Just figured out that the show is called "Dancing with the Stars" because they're dancing with CELEBRITIES!

2. "Maybe you just need to plateau for a period. Just don't stay there." There are times when you have to let yourself rest, and that does not mean you're weak. Forcing yourself to work harder when you already have so much on your plate will only give you more pressure. Some people do better under pressure while others don't, but it's nothing to be ashamed of. It's always quality over quantity.

3. Find what you're passionate about and pursue it with all your heart. Even if it's not a million dollar idea, it will open doors for you. Take the risk; you won't know where it will take you.

4. Stop worrying! It's cliché but it's true. Trust me, you'll be much happier without all the negativity bundled up! Stop worrying about the future, stop worrying about what might or might not happen. Stressing about your future will do nothing but stress you out even more. Worrying will not send supersonic waves to change what will evidently happen. Instead, focus on the positives, and don't overwhelm yourself!

5. Don't dwell on failures because it's not called failing if you learn something from it.

6. Be confident in yourself. From now on, feel confident about everything you do. Present yourself with confidence and you'll gain confidence. Don't worry about what others may think of you, it prevents you from being you.

Coding and Friends - Introduction, Conditions, and Kimye

Hello, lovely people of the Internet! My name is Alex, and for as long as I can remember, I've loved to write. I always thought that writing was the one thing for me, so when my mom sent me a New York Times article about this cool new organization, Girls Who Code, I was less than thrilled. I tried to explain that I hadn't ever been good at math - unless you count that time I helped my first crush, Tommy, with his fractions in the fourth grade, and subsequently watched him fail the assignment because, like I said, I'm not good at math - and that whenever my Internet was down, I'd have a complete breakdown (turns out turning your WiFi off and then on again is really effective). "You might like it," my mom said. "Just try it."

So I set off for Girls Who Code. Now what is Girls Who Code, you ask? Girls Who Code is an incredible organization across the country that teaches high school girls about Computer Science - coding - and takes them through eminent companies in the tech industry for a firsthand look at the work a coder does. Now, if you're picturing old, bulky computers and miserable people who get through their days via Red Bull and questionable pizza, you're very wrong. The companies you visit at Girls Who Code are full of fun-loving people eating totally healthy pizza - okay, healthy is a strong word, but still - while building the apps you spend all day procrastinating on (cough-2048-cough).

But Alex, you might argue, those apps are hard to build. Aren't they full of the heavy math you ever-so-dread? Nope. I was wrong. I hardly admit to being wrong - in the third grade, I was able to convince a friend that Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus are two separate people and that Alexander Graham Bell was revered for inventing the Graham Cracker - but in this case, I'll make an exception because it's just that important. Coding has nothing to do with math. Like, seriously, nothing. I promise! As it turns out, coding is a language - a series of languages, actually - and once you understand one, you can easily pick up the others with slight adjustments (think of the Romance languages). It's a super creative field; the writing side in me loves creating something out of nothing, and that same side also loves the fact that there are rules so elves can't just fly in out of nowhere (looking at you, every medieval fantasy book ever). As time went on, I grew to really, really love coding. And, just so you know, in Girls Who Code we ended up coding our own version of 2048 - and subsequently used it to procrastinate on building our other projects.

But Alex, you may ask, what does this have to do with me? Why have I chosen to read this instead of a Dylan O'Brien interview or Kendall and Kylie's book? Well, after participating in Girls Who Code, it's my belief that every girl should learn how to code. There will be over a million, very lucrative jobs in Computer Science by the time 2020 rolls around, and, given that only 12% of Computer Science grads are women, we really need more girls to fill those positions. Unfortunately, not a lot of girls have the resources to learn to code - Girls Who Code is rapidly expanding, so that will change soon, but in the meantime, girls need these resources.

Sites like Codeacademy are good at teaching you coding vocab - what a function is, what an if/else statement is, what booleans are (I'll explain what all that is later, don't worry) - but when you're starting from scratch, there's no resource to walk you through the thought processes on how and when to use these elements. It would be like someone reciting words in Spanish to you without teaching you conjugation or tenses or, perhaps most importantly, what they mean. My goal with this column is to teach coding conjugation - in other words, the thought processes and meaning behind concepts in coding, but in terms that don't make you want to bang your head into a desk.

So with that, let's begin.

Perhaps the most important concept in coding is that of a condition, and I'm going to write about it today because it provides the foundation for other really important concepts. Conditions are irrefutable facts - for example, "It's foggy today," "I live in Los Angeles", "Beyonce is a goddess" (None of those are refutable - and yes, I mean none). Here's what a condition looks like in code:

Conditions exist solely as a reference point. In the above scenario, the computer has reached a digital fork in the road - or, you could say, fork in the code! (crickets chirp)

What is this fork in the road, you ask? It's simple: the computer needs to know which sentence to print out: "I'm a morning person! " or "I don't like waking up" (console.log tells the computer to print something out, but we'll get more into that later). The computer checks the stated condition - what time is equal to.If time < 30 seconds (we just write 30), the computer prints out the first sentence, "I'm a morning person!" But wait a minute! Time is equal to 50! That means the condition before - that time < 30 - isn't true. Thus, the computer prints out the second sentence, "I don't like waking up", because time > 30(the else).

Still feeling a little abstract? Let's better demonstrate the concept with some entertaining celeb gossip.

It might come as a surprise that Kanye West - the very "creative genius" and "voice of a generation" we know and love today - used to deride the celebrity culture he wound up embodying, especially when it came to selecting a Mrs. West. In 2005, he was one of Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People, and when she asked him about his love life, Kanye more or less responded with the phrase "I don't date celebrities."

Kanye had set a condition for himself - that he didn't date celebrities - and for a while, Yeezy more or less upheld this condition, dating a relatively unknown designer for six years. Thus, the condition above is true, and Yeezy don't want no Gold Digger.

But wait a minute, Alex! Kanye West is married to Kim Kardashian - a huge, extremely well-known celebrity! That means the condition above is now false!

Because the condition above is now false - Kanye West does, in fact, date celebrities (before Kim, he dated a pretty well-known model for a couple of years) - the computer doesn't know what to do - we're only giving it one condition, and that condition is no longer true. So what do we do?

Easy - we set up another condition, since Kanye West does, in fact, now date celebrities, and update the necessary info.

Since the condition is true, the computer will print out the sentence "Kimye is bound 2 happen" when we ask it to. We haven't given the computer a web page to display this on, but we'll learn how to do that in the future.

Thanks for reading! If Computer Science (and celebrity culture) seems like something you're interested in, check back in soon for my next entry - where we'll learn more about conditions, if/else statements, the various coding languages, and how to make depressing little web forms like the one below:

Last-Minute DIY Halloween Costumes That Are Sure to Impress

With Halloween quickly approaching, I'm sure many of you will find yourself without costumes. Now as a fellow teenager myself, I understand that most, if not all of us lack three major things when it comes to costume planning: money, time, and creativity. Never fear Millennials, I have a solution; last-minute Halloween costumes that are sure to impress.

Static Cling:
This one is an all time classic. Although it looks difficult, It requires very little planning and few supplies. You just need to pin some socks and other things you might find in your laundry bin, (shirts, dryer sheets) to yourself. Extra points if you tease your hair or wear footie pajamas.

Regina George:
This Halloween, you too can be the head 'mean girl' from one of the most beloved movies of all time. All you need is a white tank top, colorful (purple) bra, and short gym shorts. You need to cut out two holes in the tank top, right over your bra cups. You should be able to clearly see your bra cups. For added effect, enlist other girls to do the same or carry around a pink scrapbook with a lip print and labeled with the words 'Burn Book' on the cover. With an outfit like this, you are well on your way to having your own "army of skanks."

Lady Bug:
This is a very cute and easy costume that can be worn by all ages. This costume requires very little preparation, and costs under a dollar to create. You just need a red outfit and black felt or paper. Cut your black material in the shape of a circle and adhere it to your outfit. If you want a more permanent stick, instead of just pinning it, use an iron on fabric and adhere it to your garments that way. You can also add to your costume by adding wings or antennae using a headband attached to pipe cleaners with a pom pom glued to the ends of them.

Bill Cosby:
Here's a chance for your Dad's old sweater from the 80s to see the light of day again. You just need a loose fitting, colorful retro sweater. Seriously, its all in the sweater.

A Lego Brick:
We all have our share of memories when it comes to Legos, (i.e. the searing pain that came with stepping on one), and while good or bad, they are still one of the most iconic toys in American history. For this costume, you need a box big enough for you to fit into, and an even number of plastic cups, preferably the color red. Paint your box any color, and then attach the cups, replicating a legos appearance. If you painted your box red, you don't even have to paint the cups. You're welcome.

80's Workout Barbie:
It's finally time to put all those cute gym clothes to work. This costume is easily made using items you can find in your closet. You need tights, tight fitting shorts, and a tank top, all in neon colors, or if you're willing to splurge, a neon leotard. The key to the outfit is neon. Remember, the closer to a highlighter, the better. If you really want to go all out, add leg warmers, a sweatband, and put your hair in a high pony and have bright make up.

Meme or Viral Video:
Memes and viral videos reign high when it comes to what's relevant in today's pop culture. This costume is one that's all your own. It can be any meme, anything. Whether its Grumpy Cat or the Ermahgerd girl, you're sure to impress with your one-of-a-kind costume. Seriously, make it your own.

Happy Halloween, I hope you all look ravishing in your one-of-a-kind Halloween costumes!

Make sure to comment on what you're being this Halloween!

Rock Your Autumn Style With Faux Fur Vests

faux fur vest
Fall is officially here, which means it is time for shopping in order to overcome the autumnal chill. If you are looking for something that will help you hold the spotlight, faux fur vests can be just the thing you are looking for. They are not only stylish, but also ethical and cruelty-free.

Faux fur has been increasing in popularity since the 1950s and it is one of the biggest fashion trends now, especially after being seen on the runways for Fall 2014. What's great about these vests is that you can wear them for various occasions like meetings, cocktails, and dinner parties.

There are plenty of ways to wear these faux fur vests. For example, they look great with both maxi and mini dresses. Another way is to wear them with pencil skirts to create a formal edge. Moreover, you can always combine them with skinny jeans and t-shirts to get a casual look.

It is also possible to get some inspiration from celebrities' ways of dressing up these vests. Kendall Jenner, for example, paired her blush-colored faux fur vest with a white t-shirt and black skinny jeans in Milan. She then showed up with the same vest in Paris, rocking it with a maxi black dress and black booties.

So, why not be fearless and add one of these cozy vests to your fall/winter wardrobe?

Taylor Swift's '1989' Album Leaks Early Online, Target Pretty Much Gets the Blame

Taylor Swift
One of Taylor Swift's biggest nightmares just came true. The singer just got slammed with an official 1989 album leak, and her team is NOT happy with it.

According to New York magazine, the first leaked song was "Blank Space". It was posted on YouTube, and was yanked by her label Big Machine Records within hours. Unfortunately for them, that wasn't before tons of people already listened.

So who is the sneaky person who let things slip? There are reports that some of the leaks could have stemmed from Target because hackers posted not only the 13 main tracks off 1989, but the 19 songs crafted exclusively for the Target edition.

Some fingers are being pointed towards France, too. The songs' iTunes descriptions are in French...

It still isn't clear how the songs were stolen, but they're supposedly still floating around on Tumblr. You can listen to all the tunes, if you have the special password. We wouldn't listen though, if we were you. You might catch the wrath of the Swifties, who are currently freaking out on Twitter on those who listened to the songs early.

We're pretty sure Taylor saw all of this coming. "I don't even wanna talk about it. I don't trust technology," she recently said during an appearance on Alan Carr: Chatty Man. "I don't want to talk about leaks. It freaks me out. I will have a meltdown on the show."

Hopefully she can just shake, shake, shake this one off...

I Heart... Everyone?

It's too easy for me. Sometimes I feel guilty. Not everyone is as fortunate as I am.

I am bisexual, but this is not a coming out story. The stereotypical "finding oneself" journey does not apply to me in regards to this aspect of my life. Liberal parents, understanding friends, and an arts school in which anything goes have created a safe environment that sets no limitations. Targeted exclusion has yet to be a personal problem, though I do not expect eternal acceptance.

Nightmarish stories of attacks against the LGBTQ (and everyone else) community are haunting me and others who empathize with this issue, but I am here to relate incidences of progress.

Andrew Garfield, the British heart throb known for his leading role in The Amazing Spider-Man movies, is a gay rights activist who continuously speaks out for equality. Arcade Fire released the official music video for the single "We Exist" in May, which featured the actor as a transgender woman. Entertainment Weekly quoted the influential star, making a suggestion in July of 2013:

"Why can't we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It's hardly even groundbreaking!...So why can't he be gay? Why can't he be into boys?"

Garfield's stance proves that positive advancements are not one-sided. We need other powerful figures of all backgrounds to speak out for our rights. If nobody has a conversation about the problems a group faces, steps to make changes will never be taken.

The voice of one celebrity does not compare with the shouts of thousands of participants at the NYC Pride Parade. The annual march to Stonewall commemorates the riots of 1969, in which gay activists violently demonstrated against the persecution of gays in the United States, and specifically in Lower Manhattan. Each year, the celebration is even more extravagant and welcoming to everyone (with the exception of homophobic tourists who blindly took a trip downtown). Mayoral candidates marched in 2013 to show their support, while the cast of Orange is the New Black waved from its own float in 2014. No matter what the members represented, everyone shared one goal: to make being gay not only tolerable but joyous. Yes, being universally understood would be of great benefit, but it is also important for the actual LGBTQ community to have the opportunity to be successful and expressive.

Even if you are straight and do not have a gay friend in your life (you are missing out on so much!), you can probably relate in some way to the alienation that my people are confronted with. Similarly, you can fathom the relief of rapid improvements to our long-lasting struggles. I am not usually the philosopher to see the cup half full, but I am always the opportunist to drink what is given. Fueled by recent breakthroughs, my generation and the fresh perspectives to come will continue this revolution.

Lindsey Stirling Tells Cambio Interns About Her Eating Disorder That Inspired "Shatter Me"

(Editor's Note: Lily, Michelle, Roxy, Natasha and Nikki, below from left to right with Lindsey in the middle, are all Girls Who Code graduates who interned at Cambio this summer, helping to relaunch the site by building new features and putting their awesome stamp on our content. They were psyched to see Lindsey Sterling perform at the AOL offices in New York for the BUILD series, above. After they interviewed Lindsey, she thanked them for asking questions she hadn't been asked before. Check out their Q&A!)

Girls Who Code: How has your childhood influenced the kind of person you are today?

Lindsey Stirling: I am so grateful that I had parents that were so encouraging with art and my expression. I remember going to the first day of first grade all dressed in a costume, like a kimono, red sparkly shoes, a wig, and one glove. And my mom took me to school just like that and I think that's a big part of why I am the way I am because my parents were like, "You wanna do it? You look great!" And those kind of experiences when you're young that really shape who you become.

GWC: What's the most difficult thing you've ever had to go through?

LS: I had an eating disorder when I was in my teens, and I didn't even realize it at the time. It was in my early twenties that I finally had this moment of realization. My mom and others pulled me aside and said, "We think you have a problem," and I would always answer, "No, I don't, I'm fine." And I finally realized that I had a huge problem, and that's kinda what "Shatter Me" is about. It's written about that realization that I am so unhappy.

An eating disorder is such a consuming thing. It's an actual mental disorder. It wasn't about food, it was about self hatred. I had to train my mind to think positively, to love myself and be able to look in the mirror and say, "You're beautiful," even though I didn't believe it until I learned to love myself again. That was the hardest thing I've ever done. It broke my heart when I realized that I had this problem because I was studying in school to be a therapist, to work with troubled teenage girls! And I was like, "How can I ever help someone if I cannot help myself?" And so that was one of the biggest motivations for me to get over it.

GWC: While you were on America's Got Talent did you ever feel like you had to sacrifice your values as an artist just to please other people?

LS: I definitely remember it was hard, especially in designing my costume. They showed me my costume for the first time, and I was like "I can't wear that."I was so afraid to say something, but I did, and it was a little awkward and they weren't too happy with me. But I also think artistically, I wasn't as strong an artist yet. I hadn't really put myself out there. I didn't really understand that I had the right to stand up for myself, and so artistically I remember them suggesting ideas that I would think in my head, "I don't like that." But I went along with it anyway and it came across as so contrived, like it didn't feel genuine. Looking back at performances, it feels awkward, it looks awkward and it's because I didn't have the guts at the time to say, "I'm not okay with that." And I learned a lot from that experience, that you have to stand up for yourself in those ways, even though it's awkward or it's weird.

GWC: What have you learned from doing all the backstage production stuff in all of your videos and what's your favorite part?

LS: I had to do all the stuff by myself in the beginning cause I didn't have any money. I knew how to do video editing and directing, because I went to film school for two years, so I was like, I can do this all myself. And as my productions and have gotten bigger, I've had to learn that you can't, and you shouldn't do it all yourself. You'll drive yourself insane! And also, it's easy to say, "No, I wanna do it this way, my way..." But sometimes you benefit when other people give their input, and they have a vision and you can make it a little bit of a collaborative process.

I really almost had to take a bite of humble pie and realize, "You know Lindsey, your ideas aren't always the best. Maybe his idea's better." And learning to trust other people. That's one of the biggest things - learning to work with other people and trust. My favorite part is I am just a film nerd, I love thinking of fun concepts. I love dressing up and being able to design costumes. So that's probably my favorite part. To be able to have this thing in my head that has all of these little moving pieces and then to see it like a puzzle all come together in the end, is just a really amazing process.

GWC: If you could only do one thing for the rest of your life, what would it be?

LS: It would be dance. I love dancing. I would probably have an '80s music playlist, and I would dance, forever. I would be in great shape.

GWC: Can you tell us about a memorable moment with a fan?

LS: There was a young man that came to a show - they contacted us beforehand and this young man he was only 13 years old and he was dying of cancer, and we had him backstage and we hung out with him before the show and after the show and dedicated the whole show to him. His parents said that they were already planning the funeral because he had about a month left to live and they just expressed that he wanted my song to be playing, precisely the last song he hears. This young man was sharing his art with us, paintings he made, and he was full of smiles. I was just like, what a strong man - his future is so bleak right now and yet he's still sharing every part of himself as much as he can. His name is Hunter and I was just so inspired by him.

5 Songs to Make Your Day Fabulous

We all have bad days, whether it's a bad grade on an assignment or an argument with your best friend. It's a fact of life. However, the great part about life is that there is always a way to bounce back from what knocks you down. Personally, that helping hand has always been music.

So if you're having a bad day or just want to get pumped, here are five songs to make your feel awesome!

"Whoa, Whoa, Whoa," by Watsky

Yes, I can hear what all of you are thinking. Rap? Really? I don't want to hear about big butts or all of the money on my mind. Watsky is different--he's anything but a typical rapper. His songs are about working hard and being underestimated, driven by personal experiences. This song in particular focuses on his especially fast rapping, with steady beats in the background. Emphasis is put on his lyrics, which talk about being so good that he doesn't even have to enter the tournament. Talk about confidence. I recommend listening to this song before a test, big game, or anything that requires you to have the utmost amount of confidence. Enough confidence to fist pump the air for no particular reason.

"Really Don't Care," Demi Lovato

Not only does the music video for this song have a strong equal rights undertone, the lyrics for this song are strong as well. Demi is showcasing herself as a strong independent woman, and I couldn't be happier for her. She wants us to not care about what others think--the only person whose opinion matters is YOU. The poppy beat, don't-care-about-what-you-say lyrics, and Cher Lloyd's sassy rap complete this song and make it an anthem you can listen to while getting over your last breakup or going on a run.

"Shake It Off," Taylor Swift

T-Swizzle is not unfamiliar with public scrutiny, something that she addresses in her latest single. Her advice is repeated over and over again throughout the chorus: shake it off. If someone hates on your dating style or calls you stupid, don't pay it any attention. Taylor's poppy beats and subtle digs at her critics make this song a must-listen, especially if you're feeling criticized or just need to perk yourself up again.

"Papaoutai," Pentatonix (Cover of Stromae)

No, you have not lost the capability to understand English. This song is just completely written in French, and Pentatonix decided to stay true to the song's original language when arranging it. Not only is the music video crazy fun (who comes up with a concept about singing dolls?), but their arrangement makes this serious song easy to rock out to. The addition of Lindsay Sterling and her fantastic dancing/violin skills make this song THAT much better, adding a classical foundation to this percussion-filled song. The lyrics are something everyone can relate to, when a parent or someone close to you is never there, but the song doesn't make you feel that loneliness. In fact, I recommend this song if you yourself are feeling lonely, because, not only will the song make you feel like you aren't really, alone you'll definitely feel cheered up by Pentatonix's wacky dance moves. I know I was.

"Can't Hold Us," Macklemore & Ryan Lewis

I know this song was released nearly a year ago, but I still feel as excited when I hear it now as I did when I heard it back in April. The name, "Can't Hold Us," just exudes this feeling of confidence. Ryan Lewis's superb arranging skills, with his catchy and eccentric beats, layered with Macklemore's lyrics about his rise to fame make even the most insecure person want to start their own record label. This is my jam, what I listen to before my softball games or on the way to school on a test day. Because this is the moment, and tonight is the night, and we WILL fight 'til it's over.

SO PUT YOUR HANDS UP.

Now if you're feeling pissed, sad, lonely, or just want to put a little pep in your step, put these five songs on repeat for the next 27 hours. I swear on my YouTube account that you'll have a fabulous day with these lyrics floating in your mind.

Ouch: Can You Shave With a Men's Razor?

Women sitting on a tree branch

Can you shave your legs with your boyfriend's razor?

Of course you can. You can also cut your own hair with the orange-handled scissors your mom keeps in her crafting drawer, but, you know. Some options are better than others.

"Gillette, Bic, and Schick have stated that the shave angle of men's cartridge razors have what they term 'aggressive exposure,'meaning a greater angle on the blade is exposed," says Karen Young, founder and CEO of Oui Shave, a brand-new shaving club just for women.

And that men's razor blade, by the way, "is normally meant for cutting coarse and longer facial hairs," not ours.

To be honest, women have been taking a haircut on shaving products for a long time. Get this: the average disposable women's razor is built to be used as little as one time (!), and the razors sold by some shave clubs may last longer, but they're really better for men. Young's Oui Shave, which just launched this month, is the first women's shave club that we know of. And even better: Its razor is meant to last forever.

Bye bye, disposables.

Ed Sheeran Apologizes For Calling Miley Cyrus a "Stripper"

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran REALLY wants to make nice with Miley Cyrus. The ginger singer is apologizing for basically calling Miley a stripper...again.

A few months ago Ed kind of dissed Miley and her twerking ways. Needless to say, she wasn't too happy about it. She was caught mouthing some bad words to him at the VMAs this year...

"I think she's got an amazing voice. I just think she's packaged the wrong way...When I first heard 'Wrecking Ball,' I thought it was a brilliant song, but the video distracts too much from it...I think encouraging young people to twerk might be a bad thing," he said. "It's a stripper's move. If I had a daughter of nine, I wouldn't want her twerking."

He must've really felt bad for saying that, because not only did he apologize once, but he recently made sure to bring up the whole situation again. While talking to The Sun, Ed told her he was sorry again.

"I was a bit of a c**t. I do feel bad about it as I'd be f--king livid if someone said that about me," he told them. "My general point was I wanted her to sing the songs so people could see what an amazing artist she is. I just worded it wrong."

Think Miley will accept his apology this time around? Would you if you were her?
