Following a
Twitter rant in which
Amanda Bynes accused her father of abuse, the troubled starlet has entered a treatment facility.
Shortly after the
Easy A actress boarded a flight from New York to Los Angeles Friday, Amanda was checked into rehab not long after touching down, according to
People.
TMZ is reporting that Amanda has been placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold where she will be held for 72 hours. A source told the site that Amanda hopped in a car service thinking that it was taking her to the London Hotel where her parents and their attorney were going to meet her, but instead they made arrangements with the car service to take her to a Pasadena, Calif. hospital.
The psychiatric hold can be extended for 14 days if need be, during which time there "will be a move to get another conservatorship," according to the site.
Hours earlier, Amanda made several accusations against her dad on Twitter, writing that he had sexually, verbally and physical abused her. "My dad was verbally and physically abuse to me as a child," she tweeted Friday. "My dad fondled himself in front of me so many times that i started recording him on my phone in hopes of catching him. saying or doing something inappropriate around me so I could get him arrested & put in jail for the rest of his perverted life."
And that was just the beginning of her troubling rant. Amanda later deleted her tweet about the sexual abuse, but kept everything else up, later tweeting, "My dad never did any of those things The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me."
After her tweets surfaced, Amanda's mom,
Lynn Bynes, issued a statement, telling
People through her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, "I am heartbroken today for my husband of 47 years. Rick has been the best father and husband a family can ask for. He has never abused Amanda or our other children physically or sexually."
"These accusations are absolutely horrible and could not be further from the truth!" she continued. "These allegations stem from Amanda's mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband's character could be slandered in such a way."
