Don't mess with
Carrie Underwood!
The country singer recently blasted all her haters on Twitter after they were quick to shoot down her epic 'The Sound of Music' performance earlier this week.
"Plain and simple: Mean people need Jesus,"
the singer tweeted on Friday, December 6, a day after the live special.
"They will be in my prayers tonight... 1 Peter 2:1-25," she added.
Carrie was handed a lot of criticism when her live rendition of the 'Sound of Music' aired on NBC. While many thought she killed the vocal performance, her acting wasn't so great.
She even tripped during the show's first segment. Overall though, she did a pretty good job and we give her props for stepping outside of her comfort zone. Others weren't so nice though and really slammed her on social media causing her to lash out.
"Glory to God tonight...I couldn't be more proud. What a tough thing to pull off and we did it! I am so blessed!!!" she posted on Twitter right after the show aired.
Carrie played the epic role of Maria von Trapp. Myles von Trapp Derbyshire, the great-grandson of Maria von Trapp, expressed his disapproval of Carrie after learning about the casting decision almost a year ago.
"It's just upsetting that this could potentially be the final broadcast of our story," he told ABC News.
"And although her voice is amazing, she doesn't have acting experience...It's just the overall image, she's a country star, she won American Idol, she's very public in kind of a tabloid way."
He added that the family preferred actress
Anne Hathaway to play the coveted role because of her experience acting and singing in in
Les Misérables.
Carrie was probably ready for this backlash though. She revealed before the show aired that she was getting hated on for taking on the role.
