The former American Idol judge insists the surprise public marriage proposal was a joke and that she and DJ Khaled are like "brother and sister"Although DJ Khaled insists his public marriage proposal to Nicki Minaj with a huge diamond ring last week was real, the "Starships" rapper says he was just kidding."I was shocked just like the rest of the world," she told radio station Hot 97 in an interview. "Nobody in my real life took it seriously. Everybody just hit me like, 'LOL. Yo, Khaled is crazy.'"
Crazy smart, perhaps? The proposal made headlines everywhere, but it was just revealed that Nicki is featured on Khaled's new single "I Wanna Be With You," a phrase he repeated in his taped video proposal. That's one way to get some buzz on your new song, huh?
And although Nicki was spotted out this weekend wearing a big diamond on her ringfinger, the 30-year-old insists they're just friends.
"Khaled is my brother and Khaled was not serious with that damn proposal, y'all," Nicki said. "Please let it go. He was kidding. He's not attraced to me; he doesn't like me. We're brother and sister."
