Nick Jonas Is A Smash On 'Smash' According To The Ratings

Yesterday we talked to Megan Hilty, who gushed over this week's guest star on Smash, Nick Jonas. And it would appear that plenty of other fans of Nick's tuned in to see his performance on Monday night's episode, 'The Cost of Art' -- ratings were up from last week's 6.5 million viewers to last night's 6.9 million.

Nick played Lyle, a former teen TV star who Anjelica Huston's character wants to invest in the stage production of Marilyn, with Ivy Lynn (Hilty) playing the title role... after beating out Katharine McPhee's Karen character for the coveted role.

We talked to Nick today after his episode to ask him if, like Katharine McPhee's character in the show, there were any parts he didn't get after auditioning.

"There were a lot of auditions growing up that I auditioned for that I didn't get it," he told us. "But that's a part of the whole process and what helps you grow."

We also wanted to know if he was intimidated during his scenes with Anjelica. Not only is she a Hollywood legend, but if you've ever seen The Witches, you might also be a little frightened to work with her.

NBC

"It was very intimidating doing scenes with Anjelica but she is an incredible actress and during that short time, I learned so much from her."

What did you think of Nick's character on the show? We'd like to see him come back and do a scene with Katharine. Nick agrees! He tweeted, "Wish we could have had a scene together. Maybe next time?"

We're planning on it. How about you? Will you keep watching Smash with or without Nick?

Taylor Swift Talks About How Dr. Seuss Inspired Her To Write Music as a Kid

We chatted with Taylor Swift at Dr. Seuss' The Lorax junket and the country beauty gave us the scoop on why she chose to star in the movie and why she felt "crazy" during recording sessions for her character, Audrey.

Swift spilled that she wanted to do the movie because it was Dr. Seuss, who inspired her to write music.

"I became obsessed with poetry after I discovered Dr. Seuss's books. And that later turned into writing songs which has then turned my life into something really fun," said Swift.

The all-star cast also had a lot to do with Taylor's interest in doing the film.

"There's such an amazing cast in this movie. Zac's in it, Ed Helms, Betty White and so many people that I really admire. They've all come together in this cast to voice these characters."

Taylor also revealed the recording process for her character and that she felt "crazy" at one point.

"You're imagining how she talks, how she thinks, how she responds," said Swift. "They'll be like we need a response, we need ad libs, we need you to scream, we need you to act surprised. And you're just making sounds and you feel crazy. But that's when you separate yourself from the character per say."

The Lorax hits theaters March 2nd. Click here to visit the film's website.

Anti-Bullying Blog: How To Start Your Own Non-Profit To Help Make A Difference

$

Filed under:

Hi Cambio Readers! Last week I introduced myself and shared with you the inspiration and goals of my non-profit program, WeStopHate.org. My hope is that after learning about my story, you felt inspired to turn your personal experiences into something positive, too, which is why this week I will be sharing some of the things that I have learned from running WeStopHate.org.

1. Find your passion. There are so many things you can do to make a difference and it's up to you to figure out what exactly you want to change! Spend some time on Google or DoSomething.org learning about different causes. You are bound to find something that pulls on your heart strings and makes you think, "I can't just sit here, I need to take action!"

2. Start small. It sounds simple, but sometimes the obvious things are the easiest to overlook! Remember that Rome wasn't built in a day and neither will your pro-social initiative. By beginning with striving for small goals, you'll gain confidence in your abilities and feel empowered to take on larger and larger challenges down the road.

3. Focus on goals. We all want to change the world, but setting your sights on a single goal and then focusing your energy on achieving it is the best way to make an impact. Plus the feeling of knowing you reached your goal makes all the setbacks along the way totally worth it.

4. Build a team. My mom always told me many hands make light work and while I don't always agree with her, she was definitely right about that! Take the time to recruit volunteers who care about the cause you're passionate about and figure out what their strengths are. By working with a team, you will be able to expand much more easily and doing service with others is half the fun!

5. Find a mentor. When you meet someone who you aspire to be like, tell them! Ask them for advice and guidance when you're stuck. The beginning of a non-profit is always rough, so having someone to go to will take some of the initial stress away.

6. Use social media. Telling as many people about the awesome work that you're doing will help build support and funding for your project. When something cool happens, make sure to tweet pictures and update your project's Facebook fan page with the details!

7. Don't be afraid to fail. If you only knew how many times I've failed along the way! Failing is a really important part of building any successful initiative because failing teaches you what doesn't work - and that gets you closer to what does! Never forget that you're trying to make a positive change and no one is going to think negatively about you if something you try doesn't work out. More than likely they are going to be impressed - and inspired - because you went for it!

She has earned two gold singles and numerous awards, and has sold more than 200,000 singles in her home country, so she's not entirely new to the music biz.

Jennifer Lawrence's upcoming movie, 'The Hunger Games,' arrives in less than a month, and now the actress is opening up about the life-changing role in her new Glamour cover story.

"I feel like I'm in the eye of the hurricane right now," she tells the magazine about her impending fame. "I just recently started cleaning like I'm insane, and I'm starting to think it's my anxiety over the movie. I think it's a bit like, 'I'm just cleaning the refrigerator handle. The movie's not coming out. I'm going to clean it spotless, and then my life will not change.'" It's just scary."

She continues, "I feel like I got a ticket to go to another planet and I'm moving there and there's no turning back, and I don't know if I'm going to like that other planet or have friends there. It's daunting."

Jennifer is no stranger to the spotlight, though. Her role in 'Winter's Bone' earned her a nomination for Best Actress in 2011. Now, with her highly anticipated movie on deck, she'll likely be the talk of the town, even more so than she already is -- not that she's not complaining.

"In some ways, it's a hard life, but it's a great professional life," she says of acting. "I'm doing what I love, and then I get months and months of rest. I have a lot of money for a 21-year-old. I can't stand it when actors complain."

'The Hunger Games' arrives in theaters on March 23, and the April issue of Glamour hits newsstands on March 6.

Jason Derulo has released a remix of his song 'It Girl,' featuring girlfriend Jordin Sparks, and the just-premiered video offers adorable behind-the-scenes footage of the couple.

The video for the tune premiered on Bossip on Wednesday, and it's essentially a declaration of the stars' love for each other. Both singers are shown in the studio, backstage and just hanging out, but it's clear that they're smitten.

Fans are even privy to shots of Jordin taking care of Jason while he recovered from his broken neck earlier this year. In January, the 22-year-old injured himself while practicing a stunt for his Future History World Tour.

The new version of the song is every bit as addictive as the original, and features Jordin on her very own verse, as well as the chorus. Check out the video below and let us know what you think of it in the comments.

The Ellen DeGeneres Show

Fisker Karma what? Justin Bieber turns 18 today, and to commemorate the big birthday, the singer's mentor, Usher, and manager, Scooter Braun, gifted the singer with a super slick new car.

The Canadian singer appeared on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' where it all went down. "You work really, really hard," Scooter says to Justin. "And I always yell at you, 'Don't get anything flashy!' We're not about that. Be humble, be humble. And I kind of broke my own rule."

Justin stared at his manager with wide eyes as he continued, "We wanted to make sure, since you love cars, that when you're on the road you are always looking environmentally friendly. And we decided to get you a car that would make you stand out. I think you know where I'm going, and you're kind of freaking out right now. That's a Fisker Karma."

The Fisker Karma is not only super sleek, but it boasts a solar panel roof, and a $100,000 price tag. Needless to say, the car isn't easy to get. Justin was noticeably shocked and excited by his new ride, which we're pretty sure Selena Gomez will love, too. However, JB has also used this day to make a special announcement.

"It's my birthday," he wrote on Twitter. "But it's just the beginning." The tweet also provided a link to an animated image that reads: "On March 26th my first single comes out. It's called Boyfriend." It looks like it's a happy birthday for Justin and his Beliebers!

Kelly Clarkson is helping to launch Do Something and VH1 Save the Music Foundation's annual Battle for the Bands contest, which holds a special place in the singer's heart.

"Every year, music programs are cut from schools all around the country, but if music hadn't been so important in my school, I probably wouldn't be standing here right now," Kelly says in a new PSA for the cause.

To help keep music programs in schools, Do Something and the Save the Music Foundation are asking you to make an original video explaining why music education is worth fighting for. Celebs and music industry execs will review the 10 videos with the most votes, and then choose winners who will receive prizes like concert tickets and cash for school.

'Glee' star Max Adler has signed on to appear in the pilot for the new ABC drama 'Last Resort,' and could stay on the series depending on whether it's picked up for additional episodes.

According to TV Line, the show "follows the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become fugitives after refusing to fire their missiles. Ultimately, they make camp on an island that hosts a NATO listening station and declare themselves an independent nuclear nation."

Sounds intense! If Max, who has made quite an impression from his role as Dave Karofsky on 'Glee', stays on with the series, he'll star alongside a strong cast, including Scott Speedman of 'The Vow' and 'Felicity' fame.

Max has a pretty busy year ahead. He is set to hit the big screen in a comedy horror film called 'Detention of the Dead,' as well as a Vietnam war-era flick called 'AWOL,' which also stars Liam Hemsworth and Aimee Teegarden.

We caught up with 2008 USA Olympic gold medalist Rebecca Soni as she was filming for the new Kellogg's Campaign commercial. Kellogg's is the official sponsor of the 2012 Olympics and Rebecca is part of Team Kellogg's, along with Juan Agudelo (soccer), Michael Landers (table tennis), Dwight Phillips (track and field), Summer Sanders (swimming), Casey Tibbs (Paralympic track and field) and Kerri Walsh (beach volleyball).

Rebecca talks about how as a child she didn't dream about begin an Olympic swimmer as she didn't believe dreams like that would come true for normal people like her. She loved swimming purely for the workout and training but as she continued to swim in college she started to think that maybe she could go to the Olympics. Rebecca talks about the moment she won her gold for women's 200m breaststroke in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She knew pretty much 10 meters before the finish line that she was going to win and she admits that she lost focus a little as she was smiling underwater as she swam to the finish.

Rebecca is hoping she gets in for the 2012 Olympics in London this year and is both nervous and excited for the tryouts. She does admit that one good thing is that she has won an Olympic Gold and no one can take that feeling away from her but we have our fingers crossed for her, and hope she can represent in 2012.

The full Kellogg's commercial airs on Friday July 27th during Opening Ceremonies.

Teyana Taylor

The odds of a successful music and movie career coming from an appearance on a reality show are highly unlikely. Teyana Taylor beat all odds by appearing in a second film four years post her appearance on MTV's My Super Sweet 16. These days the 'Google Me' singer is preparing to release her debut EP The Miseducation of Teyana Taylor. As of now Taylor's free EP, or mix tape as it is called in the music industry will be available online March 10th. The title is of course a spin on Lauryn Hills classic debut The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill released in 1998. There probably will never be another Lauryn Hill but, Taylor will soon get her chance to play a legend in Blondie: The Florence Ballard Story as Diana Ross.

In addition to snagging the coveted role of Diana Ross the 21-year-old triple threat will also appear in two other films, The Love Section and Gang of Roses 2: Next Generation both in which are scheduled for 2012 releases. Last summer her remix of Drakes 'Marvins Room' titled 'Her Room' displayed her raw vocals. Her sample of Lauryn Hills 'X-Factor' at the end of the song reflected on her musical influence and displayed her vocal abilities like never before. After announcing at the beginning of this year that she had be released from Pharells label Star Trak, a deal that she had since her appearance on My Super Sweet 16 she was immediately linked to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music. "Right now I'm like how Lebron James was when everybody wanted him but, he trying to figure out where he wanted to take his talents" is what the singer had to say about her current label status in an interview with Karma Loop.

Getting behind the camera, she has now added director to her list of accomplishments and titles. Taking creative control over the video for her song "Make Your Move" she took over the directorial role for the Michael Jackson inspired visual that will be debuting very soon. So far songs featuring hip hop heavyweights Wale, Fabolous and Jadakiss have been released from the project as lead singles. Quieting all questioning of who Teyana Taylor is and what it is that she actually does will soon no longer be a "miseducation".

Even though Snooki dismissed recent pregnancy rumors, even going as far as to shoot them down on live TV when asked by Bravo's Andy Cohen during Watch What Happens Live (while also abstaining from alcohol), numerous reports surfaced this week that Nicole Polizzi does indeed have a tiny meatball in the oven.

Photos like the one on the left of Snooki wearing a loose-fitting top, snapped on Thursday in Jersey City, New Jersey, do not help quiet the rumors.

The reality star, who hasn't tweeted very much since February 26th, has yet to comment publicly on her rumored "situation." But with so many large outlets reporting the rumors as fact, her unwillingness to shoot them down, even just with a simple tweet, is raising suspicion. If the rumors are true, we're really happy for her! Secretly, we're hoping she'll do a news segment like the one below to announce the joyous news.
