Special guests and fans were treated to a special preview of The Amazing Spider-Man on Monday in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles wasn't the only city with the exclusive preview, cites around the country and the world joined the event. These cities included New York City, Rio de Janeiro and London through a satellite telecast. Each of those cities had a special guest.

In L.A., the director of the movie, Marc Webb, treated guests and fans around the world with a new trailer that will debut online at midnight on Tuesday, as well as some scenes from the movie.

"I want the movie to focus on the comics because I loved reading them when I was a child," said Webb.

Emma Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy, was the special guest in Rio de Janeiro. She talked about her character, and how she's the "complete opposite of Mary Jane," who fans are used to seeing in the Spider-Man franchise.

"Gwen is the bi-polar opposite of MJ," said Stone. "Gwen falls in love with Peter Parker, and MJ falls in love with Spider-Man."

Rhys Ifans, who plays Dr. Curt Connors and the Lizard, was present in London to talk about his character in the movie. "Dr. Connors, what makes him more emotional is that he was close with Peter's father, so this makes the relationship [between Dr. Connors and Peter] more complex."

Guests and fans in New York City had Spider-Man himself, played by Andrew Garfield. He had a tough question to answer: why you want to be Spider-Man?

"Cause I'm not an idiot," Garfield said. "It's a thing anyone wants."

The Amazing Spider-Man releases in 3D and IMAX 3D on July 3.

Miley Cyrus just released the video for her Bob Dylan cover, 'You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go,' and now the 19-year-old is opening up about the song in a new mini documentary from Amnesty International.

"My dad always played Bob Dylan, but it wasn't until two or three years ago I got the respect I have for him now," she reveals. "I was going through a bunch of stuff and I listened to his album over and over and over again."

The singer talks about being inspired by by Shawn Colvin's version of the 1975 tune, as well as the lyrics of the song itself. "I think the worst feeling in the world is feeling alone, and when you hear an artist sing a song and you know that they feel the same way you do, it's really inspiring," Miley adds.

'Smash' Is Like 'Glee' In Five Years... And It's Kinda Awesome

Filed under:

NBC

Smash is like if Rachel Berry graduated from McKinley, attended NYADA and was now pounding the pavement looking for a leading role, without a single Broadway credit to her name. And it's awesome.

In the show, Karen Cartwright, played by the immensely-talented Katharine McPhee, who has been long under-valued as the star that she is (life imitating art much?) finds herself in stiff competition with a blonde bombshell named Ivy Lynn (played by Megan Hilty) for the coveted role of Marilyn Monroe in a new musical called Marilyn.

Similar to Glee, there are show-stopping musical numbers in Smash and the show has already double-dipped into Glee's catalog with Katharine's rendition of Christina Aguilera's Beautiful during the series premiere. There are also original numbers, part of the show's fictional production of Marilyn, which we wouldn't be surprised if (depending on whether or not the show becomes wildly popular) it turns into an actual stage production.

In any case, we're exited to see the show develop and particularly looking forward to Nick Jonas' appearance on Feb 27. Tell us, are you going to watch Smash? What did you think of the premiere episode?

@mileycyrus

On Tuesday, a San Francisco federal appeals court ruled that Proposition 8, which bans same-sex marriages in the state of California, violates the U.S. Constitution. Since the news broke, celebrities have taken to Twitter to voice their opinions about the court's decision.

Miley Cyrus, who last year got a tattoo in support of gay rights, tweeted: "@NOH8Campaign we're one step closer beautiful people :) #Prop8IsUnConstitutional."

"Woohoo! Die Prop 8 Die!!!" Olivia Wilde added. "9th Circuit just ruled you unconstitutional. Next step Supreme court."

Meanwhile, Kelly Osbourne also chimed in, tweeting, "Are my ears hearing this correctly? If so my eyes are filling with tears of joy! Thank you lord #Prop8IsUnconstitutional."

The ruling is a huge victory for those in support of same-sex marriage, but only applies in the state of California. Proponents of Prop. 8 have said they will appeal the decision.

"Today's ruling finally clears the field for an appeal to the United States Supreme Court, where we are confident we will be victorious," the Save Prop 8 campaign said in a statement.

What do you think about the issue? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Hot Chelle Rae is about to hit the road on their first major headlining tour, the Beautiful Freaks Tour, with special guest, singer-songwriter Cady Groves. We caught up with Ryan Follese and Nash Oversteet from the band, as well as Cady, in Los Angeles recently.

Cady and the band met through twitter! Nash and Cady first got to know each other through tweeting back and forth. They also played a couple shows together.

"She came up on our bus one day and ate all our macaroni & cheese. She didn't leave the bus and I guess now we have to be stuck with her for a while," Nash joked about the first time the guys met Cady in person.

The full U.S. tour starts on the west coast and ends in the south, with a month break in the middle for Hot Chelle Rae to join Taylor Swift on her Australian tour.

New York is the city that Ryan says he is most excited to play on the Beautiful Freaks Tour. "We've played there a lot and this is the first time we've ever sold out a show there on our own. It's just a very accomplished feeling to be able to return to a place that you've been so many times and know that you actually have a lot of fans there. It's a really great feeling," Ryan said."

Cady says that she is especially looking forward to the Los Angeles show, because she has never played in LA before and the February 25th show at The Roxy is already sold out.

On this tour, Hot Chelle Rae plans to play most of the songs that they have written and recorded so far, including music from their latest album, Whatever, and even their first album, Lovesick Electric. Cady will be playing songs off her new album that she plans to release later this year, as well as her cover of Adele's Someone Like You.

Cady also told us a funny story about the first time she heard current single, This Little Girl, on the radio. "I think I was eating one of those $1.00 hot dogs from 7-Eleven in my car, with a Big Gulp on the way home," Cady said. "Every time (I hear it), it's the coolest feeling."

Hot Chelle Rae's Beautiful Freaks Tour with special guest Cady Groves officially kicks off this Valentine's Day, February 14th, in Denver, Colorado. For a complete list of tour dates and to get tickets, check out cadygroves.com and hotchellerae.com.

Taylor Swift Opens Up About Her Role in 'The Lorax'

Sam Urdank | Universal Pictures

On Tuesday, Taylor Swift attended a press conference at Universal Studios Hollywood for her new animated film, 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax,' where she opened up about voicing the role of Audrey.

"She's got some really extraordinary characteristics about her personality," Taylor said. "She's adventurous, she takes chances, she's brave, she's strong, all the while being the object of affection for Ted (Zac Efron) -- which is this really cute crush that he has on an older girl."

Taylor also offered some insight about the part. "Also, this character, Audrey ... this book was in part inspired by Dr. Seuss' wife Audrey. Audrey is an original character in the film. For the filmmakers to create a character and name her after Dr. Seuss' wife, it's amazing, and to get the honor to do the voice is pretty cool, very exciting."

Taylor is, well, enchanted by the magic of Dr. Seuss' books, and added, "I think the message of 'Dr. Seuss' The Lorax' is that you don't know what you have until it's gone. Appreciate what you have while you have it. Appreciate the beauty of what's there right now, and try to preserve it for tomorrow."

'The Lorax' hits theaters on March 2. Will you be hitting the theaters to see it? Check out the trailer for the film below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
